SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Alex has said we can afford a pitcher and teams have told him we have the prospects to get a trade done (obviously), but the question is, do you want him to empty the farm and go for it. i.e. if you were GM would you go for it? Or stand pat, hope we squeeze into the playoffs with the possibility of missing out yet again? Empty the farm can mean something like, Sanchez, Norris and Pompey for an ace like price with zobrist. (Strictly hypothetical.)
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 It's a tough call for me, but I'm going with stand pat and cross my fingers.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Don't need to empty it. But I highly doubt Norris makes it through the year in the system. Sanchez has been untouchable, so,there's no reason to think that's changed and Norris would clearly be at the top of the non-Sanchez wish list for other teams.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 He has to make a move, but he also has to take care of the other issues on the team. You can't carry three catchers and no backup outfielders all year. Francisco can't be a regular, and he and Lind cannot live on the same roster long term. The bench right now has amazingly thin flexibility. He can add wins in a few places on the roster, but I think Sp makes the most sense, and that's not cheap.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 I guess I should have included question 5 in poll: trade from 25 roster. Perhaps Lind for a 2nd basemen. I'm all in on that then using Francisco and calling up Gose giving outfielders a day off as DH. Even though I think Francisco sucks.

kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I keep saying this . If I'm in 1st up 4 or 5 games then you have to get a starter and a good one . I still believe Dickey will get it together and i hate the cost on the shark but we need a top of rotation type guy.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I would drop Sanchez, Norris and Pompey if it meant getting Zobrist and Price. I'd probably do that in a heartbeat. I wouldn't like the idea of trading Norris in a package for any one player, however.
