Jays:

• Stroman looks to get back on the winning track following a decent effort in his last start. The right-hander was trying to win for the third time in as many starts since moving into the rotation, but allowed three runs in six innings of a 7-2 loss to Minnesota on Wednesday. Stroman has pitched six innings in each start, giving up five total runs.
  
• The Jays totaled 15 runs in the previous eight contests. Toronto is averaging 4.70 runs, among the most in the majors.
  
• Toronto led by six games May 6th after winning for the 20th time in 24 contests, but that edge was down to 3 1/2 over the Yankees and Baltimore after a 4-2 loss to the Orioles on Thursday left it with a 1-5 mark in the previous six games.
  

 

Yankees:

• Tanaka continued to roll with his second career complete game in a 4-2 victory at Seattle on Wednesday. The right-hander struck out a season high-tying 11 in winning his fourth consecutive start.
  
• The Yanks look to avoid a third straight loss. The Yankees had won four in a row before dropping their last two at Oakland by a combined 15-6 score.
  
• New York starters had allowed two or fewer earned runs in nine of 10 games prior to the past two; Ichiro Suzuki had two hits Sunday and has batted .355 in his last 11 contests.

It's like we're almost conceding game 1 to them by choosing this pitching match up. It could be a big opportunity for the kid (Stroman) to come out and throw a great game in Yankee stadium but given Tanaka's record this year and Stroman being inexperienced. Not to mention we haven't exactly been hitting like we were last month either.. it could get ugly. Hope I'm wrong.
