Spoonovic Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Wow. He deserves it but surprised that he wasnt moved to the DL with a phantom injury. AA not afraid of making the tough decisions this year.

AA not afraid of making the tough decisions this year. It's a good move because now he can be used in any situation to get enough reps to fix that s***** delivery. As opposed to the past few weeks where we couldn't afford to throw him in any close game.

Caper Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 It's where he needs to be. No pressure.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Blue Jays-Official @BlueJays ·13 secs The @BlueJays have recalled INF MUNENORI KAWASAKI from @BuffaloBisons (AAA) and have optioned RHP STEVE DELABALLS to Buffalo. Jays didn't have a choice. He was basically reduced to mop-up duty in recent outings due to his struggles after May 17th: (6.0 IP, 6H, 6 ER, 7 BB, 3 Ks, 2.17 WHIP)
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Right now we are a contending team and we need to get him right. If that means a week or so in AAA to tweak his delivery and get him back on track then that is what they have to do.... Kudos to AA and Gibby for making this tough call. Never easy to send a vet to the minors for tinkering. Hopefully he comes back as good as last season.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Shi Davidi @ShiDavidi ·26s Steve Delabar says he ended up odd man out because he has options.New York, NY
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Shi Davidi @ShiDavidi ·26s Steve Delabar says he ended up odd man out because he has options.New York, NY Thats a lie because i know Jenkins has options.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 John Lott @LottOnBaseball ·36s Delabar, obviously disappointed, said he was told move made because he had options, others didn't, needed another bench guy while Lind heals - I guess we may see him back in 15 days or whatever the minimum limit it is
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Thats a lie because i know Jenkins has options. Perhaps this is a hint that Dickey may miss his next spot, and needs one of the two mop-ups to spot start?
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 plus it looks like he has options left
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Perhaps this is a hint that Dickey may miss his next spot, and needs one of the two mop-ups to spot start? Could be because whenever he comes in he can't seem to throw a strike?
SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Some good news from this is that Cecil will likely not go to the DL....and well...Delabar won't come in a give up dingers and walks...still questioning this move though.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 If the team told him that he was going down just because he had options than the team f***ed up. The team should have sent him in the minors specifically to get his s*** together and he should have been told as much.

Delabar also has to have a little self awareness and realize he's sucking.

Convo Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 His velocity has been down, his stuff has looked less than spectacular and his command has been especially bad. This may have been warranted, I just hope they are looking deeper than the results based off a small sample size. I imagine the pitching/bullpen coaches had a role in this decision.

Considering his 2.17 WHIP since May 17th, reduced K's and increased walk rate, it's not surprising he got sent down.
S33n Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 He deserved the demotion, and it's not like he has a 10 year track record of being excellent. I don't understand how some of these athletes aren't more self aware to their putrid performance, I can't stand the self entitlement.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 this move makes sense, it kind of pleases me because i was hoping lind wouldn't have to go on the DL. also in all honesty i have more faith in santos than i do delabar

DH Adam Lind went on the 15 day dl due to a bruise.
8D Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Just like Santos, Delabar has some of the best stuff in the BP but cannot find the strike zone if his life depended on it right now. It's a move I can stand by, and really, Delabar should just check his ego aside, put his head down and just work his ass off. His current delivery, mechanics or something else clearly isn't working atm. He's not clicking on all cylinders like last season.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Of course no one wants to be demoted at their workplace, but if he isn't getting results he shouldn't be up here.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I can see why nobody was bidding for 30min pitching lesson with delabar at the auction, lol
