What did I just read? It is incredible that time after time of seeing players with ridiculously bad k/bb rates, or super high strikeout rates, that people still want to pin some dreams on these guys.

 

Francisco has struck out 44 times in 112 at bats. That would equal about 200 strikeouts in just 500 ABs. How did I just read he has GREAT contact skills but strikes out too much.

 

Francisco is useful. I'm glad we have him. But getting any more excited than that would be a bit ridiculous. His OBP will float down towards .300 pretty quickly.

 

44 Ks in 112 ABs doesn't really tell the story. That's facing almost exclusively RHP. IF any fan(not the ones on here) have any illusions about his ability to play every day extrapolate what that total would be if he faced LHP much at all.

 

Glad he is here and that he can tattoo RHP as well as play serviceable D, but I think his numbers will regress substantially as season progresses.
