1. Korecky given his age is out of options, so it wasnt optional waivers. Thats why he was DFA'd, so he could go on 'outright' waivers, and if he clears, he'll be 'outrighted' to AAA Buffalo.

2. They've announced Stroman will start Saturday

3. Gibbons said post-game that Hendricks should slide into his regular start next week (so he'd get skipped this turn with the offday)...but was wishywashy and said things were yet to be decided

4. Questions are whether or not they do a 6-man rotation. Right now looks like:

Sat - Stroman (5 Days rest)

Sun - Buehrle (Regular Start)

Mon - OFF

Tues - Hutch (7 Days Rest)

Wed - Dickey(5 Days Rest)

Thurs - Happ (5 Days Rest)

Fri - Stroman (5 Days Rest)

Sat - Buehrle (5 Days Rest)

Sun - Hendriks (10 Days Rest)

Mon - Hutch (5 Days Rest)

OR they'd slide Hendriks into that Fri - Stroman start, and send Stroman back down. OR skip/send down Hendriks, and have Hutch pitch Sunday on regular rest...which I would think negates the whole point of the Stroman call-up in the first place, if its just a 1-time start for him and just a 1-time extra rest thing for Hutch.

of course...they will probably just trade for Shields, and all this planning will go to s***.

No he does have one option. But needs to clear optional waivers first due to age.

Ah ok, I knew there was some stipulation re: options/age/time since debut. Usually when someone goes on optional waivers, you can't remove him from the roster (same as post-trade deadline waivers). The previously posted Tweet makes more sense now, as to that being the reason he was DFA'd.

I'll always have Bobby Korecky to thank for helping me to understand the process.

So no one in this thread is concerned that Hutch was scratched from his start

I'm always concerned when contemplating this F.O. and injuries. That said, I am hoping they are just giving him some extra rest and pacing him some.

I hope so too

This is probably the type of thing that the Nationals should have done with Strasburg in 2012. Delay a few starts. Pull him after 5 innings if team had a big lead. Etc...

It's perfectly valid, and probable, that they're being cautious with Hutchison, and giving his weary arm some more rest ... thing is, they really shouldn't be doing that with the other guys, like Dickey and Buehrle, though it's hard to have 1 guy on a different interval than the others.

Then again, I wouldn't have put Hutchison in this position to begin with, since the risk it too great.

But, yes, with the Jays' front office, you never can be too pessimistic about what any maneuvering might mean. Could be a precursor to a Hutchison arm amputation.

Exactly right

Look after Hutch. But they should not water down the innings from MB and RAD while they do it.

Pitchers are dumb. They are programmed like a super nintendo to pitch every 5 days; change that and his performance will be affected.

Hutch is angry right now.

As a former catcher I know that.

I know what you mean about the routine of every 5 days. But I've heard pitchers say that an extra day rest (like from a team schedule off day or during playoffs) and their arms feel great.

Also, with all the injuries among starting pitchers these days, aren't some of the actual pitchers a bit freaked out?? Especially someone who has already had TJS??

The elite pitchers don't like throwing every 6 days, if depend of them, they would like to do it every day (Buehrle)

Must be the team, because the fans wouldn't care.

Of course I was referring to the team. I just suspect they must not be thrilled with all the roster moves, but maybe they are.
