Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 He gets unbelievable scrutiny because some people simply do not like the knuckleball. Fact is, other top 3 starters have average seasons all the time, and they do blow up once or more a month. Look at Shields today, gave up a bunch of homeruns on few hits, are people on the Royals forum now telling him to pack his bags? Gibbons is an idiot though for failing to recognize that RA can get rattled, and when he does, hes not likely to recover. If the bullpen is available, use it. Its not because he is a knuckleballer that he has to throw 120+ pitches every time out. Not getting pulled in time puts him at a disadvantage vs "traditional" pitchers who are on a much shorter leash. Fair enough, I can respect those points. But he still needs to give us some clutch games when we need him. It's not like we're facing the Yanks or the Sox in september here. But with a 9 game win streak and facing the royals? I expect better. From just about ANY starter, not just him.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Nice hook. Just keep the ball down.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Jose played that beautifully... what a screw up. this is a strange game.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 They said it earlier, but wtf is the record for homeruns in a month? Came across this recently - MLB rare feats: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/history/rare_feats/index.jsp?feature=hr_month_leaders Which by the way is different to Jays records: http://mlb.mlb.com/tor/history/all_time_leaders.jsp

Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Take the sure out kid, good, but he had him easy I think.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Ugh, you had one of the slowest players in the game. At least he got the sure out.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 He had TONS of time to go to 2nd there.
