So everything went right in these other games, great

We should have gained a game by winning ourselves but we didn't

Need to see Pillar, and Gose in the lineup against the O,s

We have to match them as best we can with defensive speed.Pillar has suddenly moved away from the plate(OMFG-WTF)

Can someone not tell him he is wrong.

Joey B bats 2nd with EE third etc Lind,Navarro......

This was the lineup against the Cubs, whom we destroyed.

If we have to play colby,we should just DH him.

My thoughts exactly. I was expecting bigger walk up crowds this weekend due to the buzz, a bit "false" though it may be.

Only 28,633 at today,s game. Pretty disappointing as that is below the yearly average. We were 14th in attendance last year and we are at 16 so far in 2014 down around 1700 per game so we are gaining as we were down 2000 per game awhile back.

Your theory of a payroll decline is looking slightly more plausible

I have always been the downer guy when it comes to Rogers and payroll. TV numbers are supposed to be up so Rogers can easily afford a 140 ish payroll . Just don't believe they will.

Everyone says "if the Jays are playing meaningful games in September...the attendance will be there". Meaningful series and they draw almost the same as they did for a September weekend series against Baltimore last year. There has always been this thought of win and the fans will follow...well history doesn't show that to be necessarily true. I'm pretty sure that ownership would tie payroll to the bottom line a lot more than a single revenue generator like attendance, but I think they now realize that in Toronto fans will show up based more on hype, than a small sense of success.

They need to create the hype in the offseason to get the season ticket sales and packages but still need to play meaningful games to draw the casuals. I would be booking flights and tickets if I knew that series against Seattle or Baltimore was going to decide a playoff spot. Hard to create hype when Free Agents don't want to play here.

You also have to keep in mind that the Jays also have the TV revenue as well. Stronger ratings will help our payroll, especially if the team stays in contention, and MLB's new TV deals help as well.

MLB attendance is down overall this season, BTW, to date (-124/game), led by declines in big markets like Detroit (financial issues in the city), Philly (no plan), Texas (terrible team). And due to recessionary conditions, markets like Tampa and Cleveland, who contended last year, are down. Even Baltimore, being in contention, is getting very little bump at the gate.

It'll be worse next season when NY and Boston's attendance numbers are likely to drop due to neither team being in contention and Jeter's retirement.

Red Sox are going to make the playoffs next year

2016 is more realistic. A repeat of 2013 is unlikely. The 2013 team was a fluke caused by career years by Ellsbury, Napoli, Victorino, Nava and Drew. You can't expect Ortiz and Pedroia to continue to carry the team long term, due to age and injury concerns. And outside of Buchholz and De La Rosa, who knows what the pitching staff will be?

O's about to lose to the Yankees.. suddenly, the chances of the Jays being competitive in the O's series has increased.. having no Chris Davis weakens the Orioles lineup, regardless of how low he was hitting.. he did take walks.

EDIT: Hold on, Nelson Cruz just doubled.. let's hope Robertson doesn't blow it.. but I wouldn't mind seeing extra innings, so that the O's blow out their bullpen.

I,d rather come in to baltimore having them just won a dramatic game than having lost one.

We,having just lost a tough one should be sharper, and angrier.

The Yanks lose...ba bye now

Would have been nice if they went 20 more innings... oh well

LOL "meaningful." These games would have been meaningful if they didn't s*** the bed during all those series after the trade deadline.

This is usually true in most sports but baseball especially. I don't really blame fans for not going when we have ownership that aren't committed to winning.

If we don't sweep Baltimore they will clinch the division in front of us

A division winning party we should have had :-(

Yeah, if you told me before the year that Boston would be dead last, Tampa would be below .500, and the Yankees would be mediocre, I would have assumed the Jays would have won the division as I didn't see Baltimore as a 95 win team. What a waste of a season. The East may never be this 'bad' again.

Maybe things would have gone differently if the fat retard made some meaningful acquisitions at the deadline

I still can't believe we lost 2/3 to Tampa at home right now. Win one more game this weekend and we're only 3 out today. :(

Believe it bud, Its hard to win games when you have a -5 WAR manager

Be right back, biggest game of the year, biggest moment of the year, let me use Redmond and Morrow, While Cecil, Sanchez, Loup, and Jansenn look on

Be right back, let me pinch run pompey for Goins, for that +0.0001 speed upgrade, and have Tolleson replace Going on D

Gibbons is a .500 manager with the team's best rosters in the last 15 years (2006-08, 2013-14). It's not a coincidence. Why they keep going to him is baffling to me.

Cito won 86 games with a team of 4 starters (None of which turned out to be any good) and Jose Bautista. He was criticized to no end by the people in this city, virtually chased out.

No wonder Toronto will never have a winner, look at the fans. The chased out Jose Molina in favor of a dumb idiot like JPA, and now appluad pitch framing as the main quality in a catcher

Fire AA already and lets get someone to start over

Jays and Mariners postseason hopes just improved:

Andy McCullough @McCulloughStar · 57m

Liam Hendriks will start tomorrow. Danny Duffy will pitch in a sim game.

The Royals do not intend to pitch Danny Duffy until Sept. 22. Guthrie, Vargas and Shields are in line to face Detroit this weekend.

Looks like a guarantee 2/3 losses for KC (Sale pitches Wednesday), and a potential sweep for the Tigers.

Once again, Ned Yost is trying to book a ticket to the unemployment line with Bo Porter.. the Royals trail 3-0 to the bottom feeding White Sox. If they lose this series and it ends up costing KC a wild card to the Mariners, Blue Jays (I know they're losing.. don't rub it in) or Cleveland, Yost likely gets canned.
