You have to have a 25-man roster who can play. If Rasmus is hurt send him to the DL ASAP.

They could make this easier on themselves. McGowan and happ to the pen, Stroman and Nolin to the starting rotation. Eventually they're gonna DL Delabar. Call up Gose. I think they gotta send Loup down to get right.

I don't think it is though. If he tears/badly pulls his hammy you dl him right away. If its a little tight and he thinks he might be able to play in 3 days you wait it out. Id rather 3 days of a short bench then a healthy rasmus on the dl.

Absolutely right

 

It just seems like there have too many times over the past 2 years that they bench a guy and then DL him later and miss out on the chance of adding to the roster. This happened with Lind and Lawrie multiple times plus Melky and Bautista IIRC.

 

You're not going to be right all the time of course, but the team just isn't equipped to handle 1-2 guys on the bench, not playing but not on the DL, and it feels like it's been that way almost all season long so far.

Every team does this, Minny is the worst. They will wait a week before DLing a guy. The main problem with this roster is the 8 man BP cause we have two starters who are averaging 4 innings a start. Pretty obvious to Gibby and everyone else that McGowan is needed in the pen and not succeeding in the rotation. Only guy who can't see that is AA. Wagner has a dead arm issue from the 47 pitch issue, Delabar and Cecil aren't lock down anymore and Loup is hit or miss. This BP really needs McGowan. Get a guy in there to start that can at least go 5 and get McGowan in the pen where he value is best utilized.

I dunno, it's almost feeling like maybe perhaps we should have been looking to sell high on like 3 or 4 guys from our BP over the offseason, seeing as how they are predictably regressing from last season's ridiculously good form?

 

Nah. That would have been stupid. Better to wait until '16, at that point our Competitive Window will have expired and we'll be back to not trying to win again.

If we had disabled Rasmus in the first place then we could have called up Gose. Wouldn't have to wait 10 days. I'm hoping they thought Rasmus might improve but didn't otherwise we have the dumbest management.

I believe the thinking was that it may have been minor and as such a couple days of rest would have been the cure however once you put someone on the DL you cannot recall them before that time. I may be wrong on the latter part though.
