Governator Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 C'mon... Dickey & Buerhle are men and can handle that workload just fine. If you want to do something split the 5th starter role but don't take away everyone else's innings.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I remember last year they had that stretch where Rogers and Perez were piggybacked and it actually worked out very well. They should just piggyback Rogers, Happ and Redmond. Give the rest of the bullpen a day off and prevent those guys from seeing the whole lineup multiple times. I agree with this. Keep guys kinda happy and give the pen a day off while "hopefully" making each more efficient. I like

I had suggested this awhile back go 5/4 split more to the starter if he is dealing it in any given game! Something like Hutch/Happ,Morrow/Rogers and McGowan/Redmond might work out just fine! Not apposed to McGowan Redmond alternating starts even ! Even if at the worse you have 2 guys to cover the other two starters and two closers! Question is who goes then now and when Janssen is ready?
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Why?? We struggle as it is to find 4 quality starters lol

GoldBull Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Let's add a below replacement level pitcher into the rotation, taking more time from actually effective pitchers. How could this go wrong?
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Let's add a below replacement level pitcher into the rotation, taking more time from actually effective pitchers. How could this go wrong? People underestimate the value of being able to pitch frequently (but also not too frequently)... there's a fine line between pitching too much and too little. 6 man means you're pitching too little. Like a pinch hitter, hard to really capitalize on your abilities that way. Edited April 24, 2014 by Eragon

bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I think a 6 man rotation would be kinda silly considering that we really only have a couple decent starters. I like to idea of piggybacking two long men to help save the pen during this time. A Mac/Happ/Redmond in some combination might be more effective than just one of them starting and going 6 or 7 innings.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Yep we continue to make jokes that every week they find something new to f*** up and every week they continue to do so

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 High on Greek Slovakia is the root cause of this! Damn it and f*** you AA!
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Can't see how this will not completely screw the pen.Drive the final nail into them and season right now, wtf ! So instead of four pitches barely pitching 5 innings, let's try five! How could this fail? Lol
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I dunno, putting more crappy starters in between your good ones doesn't sound like a good plan to me.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Greece and Slovakia are two different countries. Damn auto correct got me!
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Lets keep softening it up for pitchers! Maybe one day we can have a season where pitchers throw every 10 days, and are limited to pitch counts of 55.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Surprised they have not thought of using dickey as the long man he probably could pitch 3 innings every other day! Is there a reverse dickey effect that would happen? We could get a way with a 5-6 man pen. And have 15 or 14 man bench!
