TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Yes, but it's not like anyone should have expected McGowan to succeed. This is going exactly as expected. He still has 2 arms...so nothing like what I expected.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Through 4 starts McGowan is averaging 4.1 IP/start with a 5.54 xFIP and 6.88 ERA. Please, for the love of god end this experiment. Send him back to the pen, then buy him out in November. I don't agree with this yet, but I'm having a hard time seeing him lasting LONGER into games as the season goes on. And if he can't, he's better off in the pen.

Caper Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 If he makes the play on he ground ball, he has a decent outing.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Call Stroman up in mid June so you don't run the risk of him qualifying as a Super 2 free agent. lol @ this playing a factor. They probably give him the Nolin treatment.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I've always thought they'd give Happ a shot at starting and after today, that's shot is closer. I just don't think they want to eat that contract along with RR's. Best case scenario, Happ pitches relatively well and some team is willing to trade for him. At that point, you trade him and call up Stroman. We saw the worst-case scenario tonight.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Good thread, bad title, mind if I alter? Can you fix his horrendous grammar while you're at it? I mean seriously, who doesn't know that you don't put a space before any form of punctuation?
kgm1 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 McGowan fits in the Bull pen . He puts another great arm there but as a starter he just can't give us enough innings . Happ will not give us the innings either but he isn't great in the Bull pen ! I suspect they give dusty another start Yes the Botched double play ball would have shortened that inning . Redmond was shell shocked when Cruz hit that eyeball high pitch . I would have let happ pitch the rest of the game and see what he could do . We need to find out
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 3 things I will never understand: - Space before punctuation ! Can you imagine getting work emails from this guy? I understand if you're a miserable old f*** who can't see anything and that's why you occassionally (or always) use a comma instead of an apostrophe, but what is up with putting spaces before punctuation? He has to be doing it on purpose, because it's always there. How do you not know how to write in English by 80 years of age?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 3 things I will never understand: - Space before punctuation ! - not capitalizing titles and first word in a sentence - and....this...f***ing...s*** THIS KILLS ME!!! You know why this happens most of the time?? Because people are on their smartphones and when the autocomplete bubble shows up they hit space thinking that that's the only way that the word gets completed. Very little people know that you can hit a punctuation mark after the word and it autocompletes too! No need hit space!

kgm1 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 LOL Such small things coming from small minds. But then what would i expect after Booster wouldn't let him in our league . What a joke you are .

What a joke you are . Yeah bud, I f***ing wept tears because you were too scared and childish to let an established fantasy player fill a spot with 2 days until the draft. Get over yourself, idiot, and THIS . IS . NOT . HOW ! ENGLISH , WORKS
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Maybe everyone else just thinks you write like a f***ing 5 year old, get a clue.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I really don't understand the Super two issues when it comes to win now teams (which frankly the Jays should be in). If the player is reaching super 2 it means that they came up and never got sent back down (pretty much). Which likely means that you were being valuable for the team. Yes it's not as good as 3 years at min salary...but the more it costs you, it's the more it helped your team. If Stroman is costing them 10M in extra cash by being a Super 2. It means that he was pretty damn effective for them and worth more than the risks they took with several other players.

Almost everyone would agree that the system isn't good for baseball.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Gibbons was evasive on the subject after the game, twice changing the topic when asked if he was concerned about McGowan, who could again be a very effective weapon out of the bullpen.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 So we have 4 arms that are all just meh on a good day or really bad on a bad day. And all of them are pretty much long men now.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Call Stroman up in mid June so you don't run the risk of him qualifying as a Super 2 free agent. We've already passed the free agent deadline thing; we'll have Stroman for an extra year if he's called up now. I honestly don't care about Super Two. It may cost the team $6M or so four years down the road. If Stroman pitches well enough to think about his arb prices, nobody will care about said arb prices. And any extra win he can get us this year is worth crazy $$. #FREESTROMAN
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Happ for Scutaro? What else might you need to make this Happ(en) so to speak !
Convo Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Happ for Scutaro? What else might you need to make this Happ(en) so to speak ! Completely forgot about Scut. What's he up to? Edit: Per Rotoworld - Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Marco Scutaro (back) is still not close to returning. Bochy said last week that he was hoping to have an update on Scutaro by April 17, but it doesn't look like he's going to have one. The veteran second baseman is having trouble shaking his chronic back issue and there doesn't appear to be light at the end of the tunnel. Apr 15 - 9:08 PM
