jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Former and now current Jay Darrin Mastroianni has been claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays from the Twins. He's been sent to AAA Buffalo for the time being. Makes you wonder whether Sierra's days are numbered, especially if the Jays decide to promote Gose. OF Kenny Wilson was DFAd in a corresponding move. He'll likely clear, as his AA numbers have been terrible (.210/.239/.306, 18/0 K/BB ratio).
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Interestingly enough, he's played a little 2B as well.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Mastroianni is better than Moises Sierra or Anthony Gose by almost any measure. Pros for Sierra: - More raw and game power than Gose or Mastro - RHB is better than LHB Gose given Jays' current roster construction Pros for Gose: - Tools; upside - More defense than Mastro (presumably, but this isn't known) - Youngest and had best minor league age vs. level - Slightly more SB volume than Mastro in minors Pros for Mastro: - Best hitter for AVG and OBP in the minors of the trio - Best BB and K rates in minors of the trio - SB volume in minors very close to Gose (222 in 603 G vs. 253 in 629) - Much better SB% than Gose in minors (87% vs. 73%) - More defense than Sierra, and at least similar defense to Gose - RHB better than LHB Gose for Jays current roster f*** scouts!!! Mastro for 4th OF!
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Also, Mastro is white and as we all know, the Blue Jays could benefit from a bit less ethnic diversity in the clubhouse. #LatinoClique
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I remember back in 2010ish I kept trying to convince myself that Darin Mastroianni was our version of Brett Gardner. High OBP, lots of speed, plays CF. What could possibly go wrong! Two straight years of almost .400 OBP ball in the minors and he turns into a complete pumpkin. Come on baseball gods give us a break.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 YES MASTRO!!!!! Love this dude!

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I would like to see him as our 4th OF. A poor man's Rajai Davis + D, but this guy can actually function.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Glad they dumped wilson he sucks
bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 The Mastro would be a good 4th outfielder. Our current one can't play the outfield well.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Fatcow likes fringy players (sierra) And male prostitutes......and male prostitutes
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 why Decent speed/not many Ks/Great D
walkoff93 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Nice move but, can Darin Mastroianni stick? sorry.....I'll see myself out
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Kenny Wilson DFA Thread title contained a solid hint at this
GoldBull Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I wonder who's spot he takes in Buffalo. Pillar has been playing like s***, so maybe he's getting demoted?
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 But Sierra "No Position, No Bat, No IQ, All Arm" is still on the team!! He does show some flashes but definitely no IQ.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 ..............and now Pillar is a piece of s***! is he latin?

I'm the ******* that bought into the Moises Sierra's 2009 season in AA and JP Arencibia's power. I should be reprimanded
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 The 36 PA sample? what 36 pa sample?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Hands up if you bought into Nestor Molina and were fapping all offseason at his first stint in AA, only for him to be traded for Sergio Santos! *hand up* http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa503616&position=P I thought he was okay, didn't mind the trade I feel like we should have solid on Nolin after his AA breakout but his value will come back up
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 4th OF with options is a good thing Trade Sierra in a package pls
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Maybe he meant 2010 oh no I meant both A+/AA, the whole season
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 4th OF with options is a good thing Trade Sierra in a package pls Sierra and Rogers for Franklin
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Sierra and Rogers for Franklin Gruber would sooner make an intelligent post than this
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Weird. Seems like he's been around forever. Twins chose to take Mastro off their 40 man for Sam Fuld which is why he was on waivers, but once a guy is added to the 40 man he gets three option years, so it looks like Mastro is in his third and final option year right now.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Franklin's not getting traded. In fact, he'll be likely starting at SS soon with Brad Miller continuing to stink up in Seattle (.187, 23/2 K/BB ratio.) Those numbers would get you demoted to AAA, where Miller belongs right now.

Nick Franklin at SS lol this is gonna be entertaining
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
