Caper Verified Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Here is a great article question why the Mariners haven't traded Nick Franklin...... for Desmond Jennings. http://sodomojo.com/2014/04/21/nick-franklin-still-wears-seattle-mariners-uniform-trade-rumors-theories/ Money quote: Let’s run a trade hypothetical for Desmond Jennings of the Tampa Bay Rays. Jennings is a quality outfielder, and a right-handed batter. Over two and a half big league seasons, he’s posted a .743 OPS. His defensive skills are good, and he’s averaged around 3 wins-above-replacement per year. He’s an impact player, but not a superstar. He’s arbitration eligible next year, giving him two less team-controlled years than Nick Franklin. Franklin also averaged around 3 WAR last year (adjusted for full season). Going forward, baseball predictors view Franklin as a consistent 3 WAR player, with upside to boot. So why hasn’t this trade happened? Well perhaps the Rays just aren’t interested in moving Jennings. But supposing they were, why risk it? Jennings is proven, Franklin is not. It’d probably take an additional prospect from Seattle to land a mid-level impact player like Jennings.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Gruber would sooner make an intelligent post than this Was a jest response to previous post "trade sierra in a package please" - sierra has no trade value
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Gose doesn't seem to do well after disappointment. This might not help. Or it might. He seems like a complicated guy.
beachbum Verified Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 When is Kenny eligible to play again?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 So, if Sierra is punted or if Colby gets hurt, which does he get called up or does Gose?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I think maestro fresh west first! Gose is still our Ryan goins just in the outfield!
