G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Title says it all. Moises Sierra but that doesn't make sense so I'll say Diaz
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Goins. Kawasaki and Diaz at 2B would seem like the least terrible option. It'll probably be Kawasaki though.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Should? Happ Will? Wagner They won't keep Diaz, Saki and Goins once Reyes is back though
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Goins. Kawasaki and Diaz at 2B would seem like the least terrible option. It'll probably be Kawasaki though. Edit: Forgot they had 8 relievers atm, so it'll be Wagner unless AA is ready to risk losing one of Happ, Rogers or Redmond.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Option Diaz to Buffalo Put Sierra on waivers and DFA Call up Gose and Francisco Keep Kawasaki and Goins

Unless they also designate Sierra for assignment. That would free up another spot. Seems inevitable. What's Gibby supposed to do with him after today??

What's Gibby supposed to do with him after today?? I don't think they're ready to risk losing Sierra yet. I really think/hope they're trying to trade Happ, Rogers or Redmond for a RHH or 2B. Unless I'm wrong, I see them taking advantage of Wagner's option even though they probably think Wagner belongs in MLB.

S33n Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Who has better defense, Diaz or Goins? I'm trying to decide between them. I'd also like to see Sierra swapped out for Gose. He would be a useful piece later in the game, and on days like today when Rasmus needs a day off but no DL stint.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Sounds like it might be Lind at this point.

It's hard to say who goes, could be Wagner or any of the infielders. Diaz is the obvious choice but then you have 8 relievers and 2 lefty 2B's.
S33n Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Really hoping Lind isn't out too long. I'd like to see this team play at least a few games at 100%
Ehjays Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Option Diaz to Buffalo Put Sierra on waivers and DFA Call up Gose and Francisco Keep Kawasaki and Goins You can only call up one of Gose or Francisco because you optioned Diaz for Reyes to come back.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Sierra because he was an option on the poll lol Honestly though our bench should be: Thole (why can't we have Kratz??), Diaz, Kawazaki and Gose. Defense off the bench for dayzzzzzzzzzzzz. Thole: Can catch Dickey.... that's about it. Should be Kratz though Diaz: Likeable defensive wizard who can play every position basically Kawazaki: Even if Gonis went 5 for his last 9, I think Kawazaki outplays him in the long term. Regardless of how awesome he is off the field, he has a great eye at the plate unlike Goins Gose: Dude's going to be Rajai 2.0 off the bench late in games. He can steal 50+ bases off the bench lol. Pinch Runner + best outfielder on the team (speed + arm fapfapfap)

shortstop Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I think goins, with a few recent hits, has bought himself some more time. And I think sending him down now not even a month in sends a terrible message to him after placing him on the pedestal this off-season. Based on AA's past, i'd guess Wagner goes down. But he's been terrific & Gibby loves him as well. So I'd guess Diaz or Kawasaki and with Diaz a right handed bat and the fact he was on the team right off the get go, my guess is Kawasaki goes down.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 AA cant help himself. he cant do the right thing for the team when it means possibly losing a fringe player or God forbid he hurts someones feelings. AA is the little old lady who holds the line up, at the grocery store, paying $23 with nickles and dimes.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Hate to see Saki go down. He can get on base better then just about everyone on the team.... and people might laugh at the thought of him as a bat off the bench... But sometimes you just need a guy to move runners to 2nd and 3rd, or turn the lineup over.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I want Reyes full time with Kawasaki and either Goins or Diaz to share MIF work I want Sierra gone I want Gose and Francisco on the bench for now This still might not work out ideally but at least you have a more versatile bench that way
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 A bench of Thole, Kawasaki, Gose and Francisco wouldn't be that bad actually Edit: Just realized Francisco bats left. Too many LHB's on the bench that way. Would much rather have Kratz than Thole for other reasons anyway, and would also make the bench 50/50 left/tight. So my ideal bench (with what we have available) would be Kratz, Kawasaki, Gose and Francisco That bench is MILES better and much more versatile than Thole, Sierra and Diaz
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Looking at all the different roster scenarios makes me wish Izturis hadn't fallen down those stairs. He looked like he had probably bounced back enough to be a one win player and a switch hitter was nice to have on a team running a short bench. Kawasaki is fairly similar minus the switch hitting part but unlike Izturis he has options which I think means he'll be the one demoted even though he shouldn't. Thanks to a recent uptick in production, the Ryan Goins as starting 2B experiment will probably be prolonged. If Diaz is demoted instead of Kawasaki, I figure Kawasaki would still be strictly a backup until another prolonged Goins slump.

Most people on this board know that Kawasaki is the best option out of all of the light hitting middle infielders.
