G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Lots of bullpens need help. the fact that Jeffress cleared waivers should tell AA something.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Not a surprise. Walden was awful in AA last year and isn't impressing in Buffalo either. Basically, he was only up here as an emergency arm like Dave Bush was this time last year (eww...)
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Pretty derpy that Walden should get DFA'd because of a misinterpretaion of the rule by the Front Office. Inconsenquential surely but it looks pretty bush league to not know the rules better. It's not like AA is a rookie GM and he was an AGM before that.

So they punk callup Jenkins last week at night, to tell him the next morning he isnt getting called up. Then Walden gets called up then dfa'ed a week later??? ??????????????
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Don't worry. Walden will most likely clear waivers, as he had awful numbers in AA last year, and isn't much better in AAA so far.

It hadn't been long enough since he and the other likely candidates had been demoted to the minors so they had to reach a bit and add Walden to the roster.
tercet Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 He is getting the sam dyson treatment.. Called up for no reason then dfa'ed shortly after
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Why was a 40-man spot even wasted on Walden to begin with? He sucks and is just plain bad.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I wonder what the GMs and front offices around the league think of this. http://whyiwonttalk.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/dunce-cap.gif
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Why was a 40-man spot even wasted on Walden to begin with? He sucks and is just plain bad. Because the pitchers that were already on the 40 man hadn't been optioned to the minors long enough. You would think teams would take this into consideration when they make their minor league assignments in the first place but apparently not.

Slot Machine Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 LOL. Wouldn't it be great if the Jays had a great season and some other organization poached AA, best of both worlds.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Who cares really. They called up someone that they knew would clear waivers on his way down. Exactly my thoughts. He'll clear waivers and go to Buffalo or NH. The Jays must be doing ok on the field for this to garner such a reaction.

The reason for the ire is AA's ongoing attempts to cling to these borderline out of option guys like Jeffress and Rogers, keeping an 8 man pen on a frequent basis to help the cause, all while neglecting the atrocious bench.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Hopefully he can get Rogers through next and with the waiver wire and trade market for a useful bench player.

I'd like the bench improved, but Walden nor Jeffress have anything to do with it. They're not "clinging" to either of them, one was DFA'ed a few days into the season and the other one was with the club for a couple of days in case they need some innings. The rotation consists of 2 injury-prone guys in Morrow and McGowan and a young starter 1.5 years removed from TJS so they feel they need guys like Rogers, Redmond and Happ.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Jeffress gets more time to develop his secondary pitches. I'm not expecting anything but happy he cleared. Arm is very good. He's turning 27 in a few months. You'd think 8+ years of coaching and instruction in pro' ball would've sunk in, on top of what he already threw before going pro.
