I'm going to put another poll up right away so we can get this category situation for the 2016-17 season solved as soon as possible. Just want to get some input before I put the poll up.

These are the categories currently available on Yahoo:

So far, it seems like we'll be removing shutouts and adding faceoff wins. I would prefer faceoff win % but it's not an option. Is there anything else you guys would like to see added, or removed, or anything in general before I put the poll up?

So since there were a couple people that were semi-vocal about not making stat changes for the current year right after the waiver draft, which has obvious merit, shutouts won't be removed until next season, right?

Adding points as well could be worth discussion, if we're adding another non (direct) scoring category like faceoffs.

Eh, I don't think I would be for that. Would you add a Runs + RBI category to a baseball league? But It would be interesting to hear different opinions of course.

faceoff wins is literally the most boring fantasy category I have ever heard of.

How do you think it is boring? Not trying to start an argument here, just want to know why. I think it adds more value to top 6 centers and shutdown 4th line centers as well. Maybe wingers who occasionally take faceoffs.

Yes.

I don't think we necessarily have to add a skater stat. Adding FW could be kind of annoying because you'll feel like you have to fill most of your F and RW/LW slots with real life centremen

It doesn't have to happen, these are the options I have right now on the poll (haven't put it up yet):

Its boring because I don't feel any excitement watching a face-off IRL, or counting a faceoff wins over the course of the week. Its important in the game, but its not exciting at all.

Would Spanky's add of G Christopher Gibson be illegal, since he still hasn't played a game in the NHL? I thought you couldn't add prospects from the waiver wire until after they make an appearance...

Yeah, it was illegal. Thanks for pointing it out.

"Unowned prospects that have not played in the NHL cannot be added to NHL rosters on Yahoo. If such players are called up in real life, then they can be added in Yahoo as soon as a news source confirms that they have been called up by their parent club."

Could also split PPP into PPG and PPA

I had kind of wondered about that too. I wish they had something like special teams goals and special teams assists instead of just separated though. Would teams put up enough points per week in each category with them separated to not add too much of the luck factor like we have with shutouts?

As for the points, like Cyborg suggested, it would add more weight to the points slightly, which emphasizes them a little more over some of the other categories. I don't know if it should be done or not, but I think it's worth discussing.

So removing shutouts seems like it's a given now for 16-17, the other options are

- Add points?

or

- Add faceoff wins?

or

- Split Powerplay Points into Powerplay Goals / Powerplay Assists

or, none of them at all. Thoughts?

Or possibly all of them (although if we add points, I'm not sure we should also split ppp), so maybe add faceoff wins and points

IMO:

- Splitting PPP is stupid

- Adding points to G and A is really stupid

- Adding FO could be fun

- Adding nothing could also be fine

Hah, I looked at his page and saw he played in three games, but they were pre-season. My derp, and thanks guys.

I think adding nothing probably makes the most sense. Feel like separate categories for PPG and PPA would just be a crapshoot. Not a fan of FOW because it changes Centres player evaluation by a decent margin.

I'm with burlingtonbandit. I'm against adding any skater stats.

Adding Points is 100% stupid and won't be done. We already have both Goals and Assists.
