So that was a pretty good Randy the Robot impersonation by Silvergun today, bravo.

Wilkos inactiveness and Randys douche ways combined into one. Basically

Difference is, one was sarcastic and the other was King

I wasn't suggesting him. BTS was wondering if someone had asked if there was room a few weeks ago and I told him who.

This league is getting out of hand with goalies. Something has to be done....example can only keep 2 goalies every year.

Could remove a goalie stat next season so they are simply less valuable, overall. I would suggest SHO since it's fluky as f*** anyway.

Could also think about making only one G lineup slot...

Not sure if it needs fixing though.

Cats Ass and I were discussing removing shutouts for this coming season (would be put to a league vote), although it's getting kind of late and after the waiver draft.

Even though I won the league on the strength of two good goalies, so it would only hurt me, I would support the change.

When there are only 30 starting goalies and it's a 20 team league, having 5/13 (38.5%) categories be goalie cats is silly.

Actually, I think an even better change would be to remove SHO and GAA. Just have W-SV-SV%. That setup is more skill based and it's a better ratio (3 of 11 stats - 27.3% - are goalie stats).

Another thing - would it be reasonable to close off free agency until we find a replacement for silvergun and then give him (the new manager) his choice of players to fill out his roster?

Edit: I mean after the waiver draft.

There's probably only 20 guys out of the 30 that have firm grasps on the starting job. Not really sure it's that big a deal. The biggest issue is really if you have only one #1, and he goes down with injury. Maybe change the mandatory appearances to be 1 per week or something, and remove shutouts. Could also have just one goalie slot I guess.

I'm kind of thinking any stat categories shouldn't be changed until the offseason. If we decide now though, people will have all season to prepare for it. For now, just make min appearances be 1.

Next offseason, remove shutouts, and add one or more categories to the skaters (PIM, FW, or simply points, or all 3).

I suggested category changes in June but was shot down very quickly.

I feel like we could remove shutouts now (It's almost random and shouldn't effect the way teams have been built too much) and maybe add another category like faceoff wins for 2016-17. Faceoff% is not an option in Yahoo.

Not sure if I like min appearances as 1, seems too little. Not much strategy if you get lucky with one start early in the week. 2 seems fine, IMO.

As for removing a goaltender slot, I like it for 16-17, but I'm biased because I have 5 goaltenders and that would suck for me.

Other option is to add the negative counting 'L' for goalies. Never played with a negative counting stat before. Probably wouldn't work though.

Yeah, I changed my mind about removing a goalie slot. It would be too annoying to have 2 goalies going, and only one slot. Especially if you got unlucky and both started on the same night for a long stretch.

We could remove SO this year I guess, since I doubt anyone really cares. Doesn't matter much to me.

I don't think the min appearances at 1 would be that bad. If someone wants to sit on the categories after one good start, they're going to lose at least half of them (assuming SO is removed). Two is fine too though, I was just thinking that if someone loses their #1, getting two starts from a backup can be a challenge, and almost forces overpaying in a trade.

I'd say add all of PIM, FW, and P in 2016-2017. That would make goaltending stats 4/15, which seems reasonable.

I edited the rules to reflect the change that undrafted oversea import players with NHL contracts will be eligible for the waiver draft (not the prospect draft) (see: Artemi Panarin, Sergei Plotnikov). As well as players with more than 4 years of professional experience without an NHL game being eligible for the waiver draft too (see: Jeremy Smith).

Any interest in a draft and hold Fantrax points league drafting on Sunday? I have a decent setup for points.

Also could be a Dion Phaneuf Classic with bad players being good.
