theblujay Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The same people who jump on people being reactionary for Morrow throwing meatballs down the middle of the plate are the same people throwing a rookie under the bus for his first 12 ABs into the season. lol If it fits the narrative...
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 There's nothing reactionary about pointing out how awful Goins has been. The new season doesn't start with every player having a clean track record - Goins is performing exactly as expected. I don't even care. I don't think Goins will be successful at all but people are taking pleasure in seeing a Jay fail and it's becoming way too excessive. Hating on an arrogant douche like JPA is cool. He deserves it. But Goins is giving it his best. Bash AA for calling him up.

Well, he's probably right now hitting 180 points under what we expected for the season, however long that lasts for him

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Bash AA for calling him up. That's been done a lot already.

You're taking it too far, we would love Goins to hit like Robinson Cano out there but we don't expect him to, and when he fails miserably at the plate it's boring and predictable. No one is hating on him.

I don't think people are bashing him (well ok sometimes they are) but are more so frustrated that front office actually let us start the season with him as a starting position player. I like the kid and his defense has saved me from being more critical, but his struggles at the plate don't look like something temporary
S33n Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Lawrie is the best defensive 3rd baseman in the game.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 A guy who could never hit in the minors =/= A guy who at least has been able to pitch well on occasion in the Majors. I'm not against constructive criticism of the guy. He is not going to stick. I think we can all agree on this. But to see people constantly updating a "Ryan Goins Hitless Streak" thread is just in bad taste. They're taking in pleasure in seeing one of our own failing. I think we're better than this.
awsomest Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 why would you throw the game by bringing in jeffress?

I agree with that thread being stupid, but on this board I think it's more about people being able to constantly say "hey look at me I was right I said Goins sucked before the year started" then about putting the guy down.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 He still hasn't hit a ball out of the infield.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Jeffress alert how is he still a Jay?

I can understand your POV, I really do. But I can only guess that thread was made just to show guys like theblujay, Gruber and exemplify that AA has absolutely no idea how inadequate Goins is as a starting 2B on a team that is supposed to contend. Whatever value he provides on D does not make up for his putrid bat. I'd bet that's the mentality behind any Goins bashing and not for any actual animosity towards the man.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Smart play by both Lind and Goins.
Ehh Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Listen, were not criticizing Goins as a person or his work ethic. He's simply not a MLB level hitter and despite having very good defense, just isn't suitable for the starting lineup for a playoff contending team. If we plan on finishing 3rd-5th like usual, then he'll fit in right fine.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 So, why your hate on Morrow? Dickey? Rasmus? Lawrie? Early on this season you've hung regulars, but a POS like Goins deserves rope? Find me a quote from this thread where I bashed anyone. Saying Brandon Morrow is getting crushed is not bashing a guy.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Knew that was coming I'm content with .500 this series.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
