I'm 6'3" or 6'4" too but I was bantam last year lol. My post defense is okay but man to man is iffy on quicker guys. I can ball handle and shoot pretty friggin well so I'm not stuck solely as a center. I'm just totally unathletic lol. I'm gonna start OBA again this year. Not sure what division.

If I had to describe my game you could think of a mix of Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan (if you look past the ridiculous athleticism), I play good post D, blocks for days, have decent pretty decent handles, pass really well; my offense relies on being tough down low, and though I think it can be improved I am extremely inconsistent on FT's (which sucks 'cause I get fouled a fair bit). I also have decent speed so I can run fastbreaks on both sides well.

Now regarding baseball, what position(s) do you play?

I play a lot like Anthony Davis. Very long, guard skills, good passer, good defense, great rebounding, etc. Better jump shot though. And less athleticism lol.

I'm a pitcher. I haven't played the last couple years and I'm only now starting house league and praying my arm will hold up. I hit around 70 and have a solid slider and okay change and a curve in progress. Never been coached and I'm probably going to bat .200. Nearly made my junior team as a bantam based on my arm but my inexperience cost me a spot. If I had the money for the varsity team, I would be on it, most likely.

Is the highlighted part school team? My school only has varsity for baseball. I would love to try pitcher, I have a pretty live arm, I developed my own cutter and definitely need to work on my offspeed. Last time I played I was a catcher/1B (people our height are often discriminated to play at first due to other people usually overthrowing the bag), I loved playing catcher, it's like you have full control of what is going on in the game. I used to have power but for some reason started hitting more groundballs than I wanted (Brett Lawrie is that you?), I go opposite field ALL THE TIME, I don't know if it's a problem with timing or I just have a natural ability to hit the other way (I'm a righty).

I am literally in the midst of baseball tryouts (though I'm basically a lock to make the team since I have before), I hadn't played in like a year and a half, and it feels awesome! I struggled pretty badly catching the first time after such a long time but yesterday I was much better which settled my worries a lot.

Yes, it's a school team. We have a junior team that's just for a single tourney in the fall. We lost every game lol. I know I should have made it. We took junk ballers. Our coach likes to pitch to contact which is just ugh. You developed a cutter? What kind of grip do you use? I don't need a pic lol but can you describe it? I've tried one out before. I have a wide repertoire.

When I play in the field, I play first base or right field. I have a great glove as I'm rather coordinated but I suck at catching high fly balls. I have a lot of raw power cause I'm pretty big but not a ton of bat speed and pretty bad mechanics as I've never been coached. I would catch but I have such horrible knees. I literally can't go down into the crouch. I pull the ball a lot. When I was in elementary and played, I would hit like 2-3 homers a game lol. My dad told me to go opposite field one season and I didn't hit a single homer. I started pulling it again and going towards center and I recorded maybe 3-4 outs all season.

I start houseleague May 12th, one month. I need to drive down to Buffalo to pick up some gear. I'm thinking about going for a lighter bat as I have all the power I need and need some bat speed. But I don't know what cleats to buy lol. Complete noob.

For my cutter I hold the middle finger and index in basically the same position as a 4-seam, but I place the right ring finger (I don't know what it's called lol) on the right side of the ball and the thumb a bit lower on the left; terrible description I know but I actually get rather fantastic movement on it so I guess it works.

For some reason I just can't pull the ball with ease, I once hit a really nice double to LF-CF but that's pretty much my highlight for going to my side, I've gotten homers and even triples hitting oppo, very odd. You would think I would get blown by all the time but that isn't the case, it might have something to do with how I twist my hips. I'm also incredibly patient and have a great eye, and I won't lie when I say that reading the board has probably influenced me a bit in that.

I have no idea when it comes to cleats, I use plastic like a noob even though I probably should have gotten metal from the beginning. I use a pretty heavy bat in comparison to what most use, I usually hit for good contact but I want to try and hit for a bit more power this year without uppercutting of course.

Do you have a specific batting stance/pitching delivery. I've changed stances like 3 times in the last 3 years, at one point I even sort of imitated Bautista's without the massive leg kick. If I want to become successful as a pitcher though I'm definitely going to need to develop a strong and consistent delivery.

Isn't it just called the right ring finger? lol. Solid description though. If it has a lot of movement I'll definitely try it. I have a Morrow-ish slider that I'd like to get closer to Santos level as it's my outpitch. I like my fastball and am confident enough in my change to mix it in as a legitimate pitch. Curve is still show-me though.

Tbh I see a lot of talk about aiming hits but I feel like when I do that I over think things. I just try and put solid wood on the ball and it goes where it goes. I don't have triple speed lol. I have a pretty solid eye but I'm not sure how it'll fare against guys who throw hard.

My stance is a little bit open with high elbows featuring plenty of bad mechanics. Think Posey. With no mechanics. My delivery is nice though. It's like a mixture of Morrow and Halladay. I'm a little bit off balance but it's nothing a coach couldn't fix. I just study a lot of film and do what feels right.

I used to when I was younger. Canada in general is a pretty s***** place to play baseball lol

Its all about hockey where I live

Do you live in Toronto? Where I live hockey is still the #1 sport as expected but there are enough people that are interested in baseball to make up a good team. I think our team went to the semi-finals last year.

I wish I'd learned to skate. I'm 6'4"/6'5" on skates and coordinated. It's too late for me now though.

Whats stopping you

Oh I'll learn to skate at some point but I mean it's too late for me to play hockey. Everyone worth a s*** plays select (except for the TNC beauties lol, Toronto No Contact) or above and it would obviously take time to get to that level. It's also ridiculously expensive and out of reach for someone like me. If I had started when I was a lot younger I could have but it's too late for me to play hockey itself based on price and how advanced everyone is. I couldn't just jump in at AA lol.

Lol I only tried skating once and I was awful at it. Though to my defense I grew up in a country where snow is only seen in the movies and you only get ice from your fridge.

Baseball? I'm working several tourneys this summer

lol WTF is Toronto No Contact?

No contact hockey? Is this for females only?

It's for females and kids who are below ~5'3" because if they played legit hockey they'd probably break their everythings. Shame, one kid is really good, my basketball team's point guard, but if he played contact he might evaporate.

Nah, I'm just doing NYB House league lol. OBA basketball, probably NT. I did CBA before but I hate one of the kids on it and eh. (Hurl won't know the teams but maybe Orgfiller will)

Well that's playing the game, you could still learn how to skate. Just grab some skates and head to your closest ODR

And yes, playing hockey is ridiculously expensive

LMAOOO. Toronto. ODR. That's a good one. But I will pick up skating one day, for sure. Just wish I could have played competitive hockey.

Kids below 5'3"? We're talking like 10 year olds right? We didn't start checking in hockey til around 11-12 I guess.

So it's basically a bunch of 16 year old midgets who can't touch each other? I would pay to see this.

Basically this. Also, girls. But they're 15 so y'know.

Do the girls play with the guys?

Why do their parents subject them to this? They must get picked on relentlessly for participating in this league.

If you're going to play sports with girls it is strictly going to be something like intramurals at school and the only reason you are playing with them is because you want to eventually bang them.

No self respecting man would pay to play organized sports with women.

Wtf? They don't have outdoor rinks in Toronto? They have them in every community in my city here.

They have some but they're all run by the city so you can't bring a stick and a puck and a net and shoot around. I had to resort to my rich "friend"'s backyard but after I wanted to slash him with my skate blade I had nowhere else to go lol. The only shot I've ever managed to take on ice, I raised so I'm happy

#tncbeauty is a phrase regularly seen and heard at my school. I'd feel bad, but... y'know.

Some parents are so out of touch. If your kid is really undersized get him into a sport where he could still be effective. Wrestling, football maybe?

Those leagues are set up with the best of intentions but they probably do more harm than good. Could you imagine if some 15 year old girl on her period scored a hat trick against you? That would kill my self confidence.
