And then those same gambling sites should take bets on how long it will take for the fans to start complaining about the next manager.

If we are to believe this then we also won the world series last year...

Even at 7:1 favorites, that never meant "really likely to happen"

Someone's got to be the scapegoat.

It would be truly shameful if they fire Gibbons...

I would love to see Beeston fired alone. That would be fine with me. May 15th if Beeston asks AA to fire Gibbons, someone higher up steps in, fires Beeston. Announces a change in direction. Everyone stays until a new president is hired and the new president makes the cuts if needed.

He should have been fired after last nights performance alone. Many mistakes but the big one was with 2 runners on and no outs and the Jays only down 3-0. He let Thole swing away instead of bunt and he hit into a double-play.

We could have had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. I don't care if Goins was up. We would of atleast had a chance to get on the board and back in that game. I'm tired of his lack of attention to detail. Hes passive and lazy.

A mangers job is to put his players in the best position to be successful. He fails to do that. We need Dave Martinez from Tampa. I would even consider bringing Butterfield back.

I would never have done that in the third. You give up an out, you then have more or less a free swinging lefty in Goins which with my calculations is about 50% to strike out. If Reyes was behind him then Maybe/defiantly but with a black hole behind him no f***ing way.

You'd think Gibbons was the greatest manager ever with a Bill Russell-esque ring count from the protection he gets on here.

As far as I'm concerned, he can pack his things and leave right alongside AA and Beeston. The leadership of this franchise needs a total clean sweep with competent people in charge.

LOL Sac bunting is almost always the wrong move.

Almost is a key word. In an extreme low run environment it can help a bit though not enough to care either way. Nothing to be fired over.

Goins and Thole back to back is an extreme low run environment.

The sequence of events that led to Goins and Thole back to back, instead of say D'arnaud and Escobar is the issue. And the men responsible for that sequence are the ones who should be held accountable. Not Gibby. He's good folks people.

If you're manager of the local Burger King and the owner hires idiots (maybe his kids friends or something) and the place is a mess do you want to be fired?? No. Of course not. For the love of all that is good, for the future of the human race Gibby cannot be fired. I can't stress this enough.

I don't think any Gibbons supporter wouldn't sacrifice him if it meant Beeston was gone. I think only maybe a handful of posters wouldn't sacrifice AA as well.

When down by three, it's not a good idea to do this. Only time it might be useful is if only one run is needed to win a game and even that difference is very small. Gibbons made the right call.

This is a situation where giving only the total run expectancy is misleading. The bunt option may skew towards less overalls runs but at a higher occurrence rate where as the let them hit option may result in a bigger inning of more runs scored but lower occurrence. What I would want to know is.... odds of scoring 1 run, 2 runs, 3 runs, 4 runs, etc. with both options. The bunt option might be better for 2 runs or less and the let them hit option for 3 runs or more.

Chance of scoring one run or more increases from 64% to 69%.

Only scenario where that small increase is worth it is if you have a hitter with virtually no chance of getting a hit (usually a pitcher). Thole hit like a pitcher last year but you would hope his true talent level is more garden variety mediocre hitter.
