My guess is that Diaz got the call because of his versatility(2B, 3B, SS, OF) and his ability to take a walk (47 BBs in AAA last year with the Red Sox). Still, Reyes hopefully will be back soon, although he was struggling this spring as well.

 

They didn't call him up for his bat..
