thebluejaysdugout Verified Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 It's often said that catchers make the best managers and broadcasters. Former catcher (Expos, Tigers, Marlins), now Sportsnet broadcaster Joe Siddall joins me in my latest segment on The Dugout to discuss. Click here for the blog post.

The_DH Verified Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Come on, Buck played with grit. Who can forget his play with a broken leg. He got the out and sacrificed his safety.

thebluejaysdugout Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 I was at the State of the Franchise this year, and the new catcher-blocking-plate rule was brought up. Both Buck & Gibby joked that being able to block the plate was the main reason they were kept around. Gibby followed that with, "well that didn't even help me" (having only played 18 games in the majors).
