Come on, Buck played with grit. Who can forget his play with a broken leg. He got the out and sacrificed his safety.

I was at the State of the Franchise this year, and the new catcher-blocking-plate rule was brought up.

Both Buck & Gibby joked that being able to block the plate was the main reason they were kept around.

Gibby followed that with, "well that didn't even help me" (having only played 18 games in the majors).
