o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 It legitimately bothers me that Sierra/Bautista/Melky are the guys who will be playing CF in the regular season if/when Rasmus needs a day off. they would have a great back up CF if Gose wasn't a sack of s*** with the bat. Gose hasn't gotten any better with the bat over the last 2 years because he's too stupid to get on base. arrogant prick still thinks he's a power bat, so he refuses to bunt properly, thinking they will stop asking him to if he sucks moose dick. instead the dumb ass is getting what he deserves, another round of AAA.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Is Morrow still starting today? I'm half expxtjng a scratch at any minute
Chappy Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I hope Morrows arm does not fall off today.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Morrow pitching 2 quick outs

He was apparently more of that kind of batter a few years ago, then the Jays decided he should be able to hit for some power and wanted him to swing at everything and learn to hit home runs (not kidding). He may or may not have been at a different spot in his development anyway, but I place blame for the power bat stuff on the Jays rather than him.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Beautiful swing there by Lawrie. Too bad the ball died.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Brett just misses a HR to deep center

He seems to press for power numbers instead of hitting to his strengths. If he could be more of a slap hitter, he'd put up numbers similar to Ichiro. At worst he could put up Kenny Lofton type seasons.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 No, I just don't want him "making the team". 0-1 (k) so far

Please don't use names like those in the same sentence as Anthony Gose. FFS that's egregious.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 As if anyone can just decide to be a slap hitter and "put up numbers like Ichiro"

We really need that to change. I hope the new hitting approach they are talking about at the big league level trickles down to all the lower levels as well.

They need to develop an organizational approach and make sure it's a single message throughout the minors.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 As if anyone can just decide to be a slap hitter and "put up numbers like Ichiro" Ichiro has some ridiculous hand eye coordination. I wouldn't even try teach anyone to leave the batters box when the ball is half way to home plate like Ichiro, but it worked well for him.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Yes. They need to develop an organizational approach and make sure it's a single message throughout the minors. they've had that for years... it was just the wrong message. lol
Jaysin2014 Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 With his speed, infield grounders would produce hits and a solid OBP. Ichiro didn't rely on lasers to keep his average up. Obviously Ichiro was a rare talent but the tools are there for Gose to be that type of player. Defense, speed, physical attributes are similar.
fireballW Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Morrow looks like he's soft tossing out there. He going to be down to 90-92 this year now or something?

BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 We should try to steal the best director of player development from another team with an absurd overpay.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Ugh, another gross outing so far for Morrow. He needs to get it together between now and his next start. The team can't afford to get nothing from him again this season. If Morrow doesn't pitch decently for us this season, we're definitely f***ed.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 If Morrow doesn't pitch decently for us this season, we're definitely f***ed. Freddy Garcia available

Obviously Ichiro was a rare talent but the tools are there for Gose to be that type of player. Defense, speed, physical attributes are similar. Hand-eye coordination is a thing. So is pitch recognition. Not every skill in baseball relies on how strong you are or how fast you can run and swing a bat. Making contact with a baseball is a skill.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
