• Tigers RHP Bruce Rondon will miss the 2014 season due to Tommy John Surgery
  
• The San Diego Padres will be without RHP Josh Johnson for at least 4-5 weeks as he suffered a strained flexor muscle.
  

 

Dodgers:

• Hanley Ramirez played a key role in the games that he was healthy for, as he lead the majors in slugging% (.638) and was second in batting average (.345) and while he was in the lineup, the Dodgers went 55-31. He hit .455 (15-for-33) against Arizona last year with 4 homers.
  
• In the 19 meetings between the two teams, the Dodgers outscored the D-Backs 83-77.
  

 

Diamondbacks:

• It's not hard to see that Paul Goldschmidt is the heart and soul of the Diamondbacks. The young first baseman had an MVP-like year (he finished 2nd in voting) putting up a very impressive .302/.401/.551 slashline with 36 homers. The 26 year old doubled and scored the only run in this morning's 3-1 defeat to Kershaw and the Dodgers.
  
• In the 19 games between the two teams last year, the D-Backs edged out the Dodgers 10-9 to win the season series

Cahill was never really that good. In 2010, he had a fluky good ERA (2.97, to a 4.19 FIP) and got way too much hype as a result. He's the same guy he's always been peripherals-wise.
