jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Here's an interesting article from Ken Rosenthal regarding the high rate of pitching injuries in the MLB: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/rosenthal-pitching-injuries-piling-up-and-remedy-still-elusive-031514 We should know about this, due to the injuries to Osuna, Drabek, Hutchison in the past..
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Anyone else think Trevor Rosenthal and get scared for a second? Why? I surely hope not.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 With the thread title, my heart skipped a beat lol Mine did as well.

Convo Verified Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Because, in our heart, we all want to be Cards fans. LOL, I don't think you're supposed to say that out loud.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 While we're on this topic, yet ANOTHER injury: Mike Puma @NYPost_Mets Niese removed after 2 innings, injury replacement. Stay tuned.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Why? Fantasy Ball, and in a broader sense than JFaS' comment. It stinks seeing good players get hurt.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Because, in our heart, we all want to be Cards fans. I still long for the day when Rosenthal finally gets converted into a starter, dude will be nails.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I'd say we've been reasonably lucky so far (knocks on wood) Only a guy we didn't really want in the rotation has been hurt and they're saying he seems OK
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I never trusted the Mets saying he was OK... Unfortunately, I did. I got a good 4 round bargain on him in hopes that he was healthy.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Unfortunately, I did. I got a good 4 round bargain on him in hopes that he was healthy. You know the reason I was good at fantasy baseball, I never gave a s***. Just set my lineup once a week
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 All these pitching injuries and surprisingly D Mac is still healthy. Shall we start the hat pool of when he gets hurt.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 All these pitching injuries and surprisingly D Mac is still healthy. Shall we start the hat pool of when he gets hurt. I'll just go ahead and be a big homer and predict this is the season he doesn't get hurt.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I feel no pity for these teams and their injuries. We've dealt with it for a few years, now it's there turn. Knock on wood.

flafson Verified Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Bold....... Would be nice but I don't think the odds are ever in your favor on this one lol. If he's healthy, we should probably trade him as soon as possible.

fireballW Verified Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 He'd be right. There are so many pitching injuries and they are increasing if anything. You have the surgeries available so let the pitchers pitch. If they get hurt fine, but I'd be really surprised if even more players start getting hurt.

It seems like pitchers in the past were more of the David Wells breed - show up in spring training after not touching a ball for 4 or 5 months, throw nine or ten innings, and you're good to go. Many pitchers today seem to throw (at least periodically) most of the off-season in between their constant high intensity workouts. I have to wonder if they simply aren't giving their arms enough time to recover and heal from the previous season.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 @JonHeymanCBS: No structural damage found on Niese elbow. Received shot, will rest 48/72 hrs, then throw.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Starting pitchers are like Italian cars. High maintenance and love em or hate em.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Anibal Sanchez scratched with shoulder soreness Tigers expect him to make his next start, so maybe it's minor but didn't he have issues with it before? Yeah, a minor setback for him last year.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Jarrod Parker is set to undergo Tommy John Surgery, and will miss the rest of the season according to MLB. Big blow to the A's..
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Wow, and apparently Kazmir has tricep tightness. Likely not as serious, but still.. Remember that rotation you had A's? Aaaaaand it's gone. GM's must hate pitchers. Seriously. Like pull out half your hair level despair.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 If only the A's had a dumber GM we could pawn one of our fringe starters on them.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Its going to be interesting to see what they do now.
