Convo Verified Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Yup. I don't want to hear about Romero returning until he has a K/BB ratio close to 3/1 in AAA for a couple of months. If he can't do that, forget about him having major-league success. I can agree with this though I really don't think it's going to happen. I read he's asking the catcher to just hold his glove over the middle of the plate for every pitch, in other words he has NO COMMAND of his pitches anymore. If you can't command your pitches how can you expect to be a major league pitcher.

He admits he can't hit a target anymore, yet he thinks he deserves to pitch in the majors? What a fool.

Not to defend the guy, but he said catchers who caught him in the past, like John Buck, used to set up in the middle of the plate, even JPA to a lesser extent. I also don't think he's said he "deserves" to pitch in the majors.

KSaw Verified Member Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 The only place Romero is going is to Buffalo unless the DL goes crazy . He needs to prove he has his walk rate down . He could do with a few more K,s too . I think he can do that and help this team down the road While I'm inclined to agree with you, I'm starting to believe that Romero can pitch his way into the rotation with the time remaining in Spring Training. I am assuming Happ on the DL though. With Redmond struggling and McGowan not getting enough innings, I see it as possible.

He's bascially under the dictionnary under 5th starter and that's what he's pitching like.
