JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 any bets Sierra strikes out?
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Goins is a very, very bad hitter. This team can't be serious about running him out there every day. They said they view him as a .300 hitter going forward... I s*** you not... The guy can play D, I'll give him that, but man JMac looks like Pujols in his prime compared to this bum.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 any bets Sierra strikes out? OK you owe all of us 5 bucks
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 OK you owe all of us 5 bucks It the obvious what should happen reverse jinks... it worked

Seitzer claimed he could see him being a .270/.280 hitter with the potential to hit .300.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 We're going to have a loooonnnnnngggggg season with Goins at 2nd. AA better get us someone.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Goins' swing looks way too long today.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 goins lol I have to admit....goins swing is looking a bit too long. Seems like he's pressing. He has to get it started way earlier if he's going to swing like that. He'd be better off shortening things up a little.
Convo Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Why are people willing to give Hechavarria a pass at SS and not Goins at 2B?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Why are people willing to give Hechavarria a pass at SS and not Goins at 2B? Goins probably has the better bat. if goins puts up a .610 OPS with his plus D I would be fine with him. It's not like we're reaching for the stars with goins. I think that level of production has the possibility of being reached, but he could definitely be worse than that too..lol. Your point is well taken though.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Link? http://www.torontosun.com/2014/02/15/blue-jays-ryan-goins-ready-to-make-most-of-opportunity "Only once, in 2010 at Lansing in class-A ball, has Goins been a .300 hitter. In 519 minor-league games (2,165 at-bats) he carries a .273 batting average and a respectable .330 on-base percentage. “But I think he’s got (a .300 average) in him,” said Seitzer. “I feel like at this level, it’s the ability to repeat a swing and stay disciplined and aggressive according to a plan and an approach. We know he’s willing to put in the work and that he’s smart. I think he can figure it out but it’s going to be a process to be able to take it from the cage, to BP and then into the game.”" ^THESE ARE THE PEOPLE RUNNING OUR FAVORITE TEAM... Pathetic
Convo Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I really like Nolin, I even liked him when he was getting hammered in 1.1 IP last season.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 No they didn't. Seitzer claimed he could see him being a .270/.280 hitter with the potential to hit .300. SEEING HIM as a potential .300 hitter is practically the same thing as VIEWING HIM as a potential .300 hitter. Either way, it's a comical statement made by a comical organization. It's expected at this point.
Convo Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Hech is s*** Not sure that is the most appropriate analysis
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I really like Nolin, I even liked him when he was getting hammered in 1.1 IP last season. And they are still hammering him... lol

GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Why are people willing to give Hechavarria a pass at SS and not Goins at 2B? Because Hech is to SS as Goins is to 2B and SS > 2B, and even then people are very, very weary about giving Hech a shot.
Convo Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Because Hech is to SS as Goins is to 2B and SS > 2B, and even then people are very, very weary about giving Hech a shot. I thought this too but w/e
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Gibby bunting with Melky in the Spring is retarded
Convo Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Poor Nolin can't even keep the Astros at bay ;(
Convo Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Gibby bunting with Melky in the Spring is retarded Why would you assume it's Gibby?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Because Hech is to SS as Goins is to 2B and SS > 2B That's assuming of course that Hech's defense is legit. The stats were not kind to him last year so it's not crazy to think that even at ss, Goins would be better. In any case, unless he's getting Hech and Huch confused, I really don't know where the op is coming from. Consensus semms to be that Hech was an expensive bust.

That's odd since we all watched him perform a highlight reel show with the Jays for his short stint.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Why would you assume it's Gibby? The hitters are working on getting their timing down, thats what the spring is for. I can't see Melky bunting on his own in a situation where the outcome of the game is irrelevant.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Stats? That's odd since we all watched him perform a highlight reel show with the Jays for his short stint. Negative fielder accoding to Fangraphs whereas Goins is positive. Of course, with MLBAM here, defensive metrics are on the cusp of obsolescence.
