KSaw Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Firstly, I'm kinda old so this is a big sample size. Over the years I've seen many Spring Training Games. Never have I seen a year where pitchers are so focused on location and strikes, over working a pitch. At the same time I've never seen so many hitters just trying to sit on strikes and drive singles, over getting big cuts in. Anyway, for what that's worth but it seems like a very different approach to preparing this year over last year or any other year I can recall. Anyone else notice this?
flafson Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I don't know about the pitchers but it's very noticeable that our hitters are trying to spread the ball which is what the new hitting coach is preaching.
KSaw Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 My initial thought is that coaches are saying that scouting has become great, so just get on base... work on that. Interesting.
KSaw Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 I'm not just talking Blue Jays. I mean all across baseball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Interesting observation. Not sure how to explain.
