G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 http://tracking.si.com/2014/02/18/red-sox-david-ortiz-rips-critics/ “I don’t even know why they’re bitching about me talking about contracts,” Ortiz said, via the Boston Herald. “Guys putting up my numbers, they’re making $25, $30 million. I’m not asking for that. I’m asking for half of it. And they’re still bitching about it? [Expletive] them. I’m tired of hearing them talk [expletive] about me when I talk about my contract. Hey, every time I talk about my contract, I earn it, [expletive]. So don’t be giving me that [expletive].”

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Same old cry and whine. He threw a hissy fit last time he had a contract 'dispute' Red Sox will sign him, Ortiz will be silent until the next contract, and Sox fans will continue to cheer their roid leader.

The guy should really keep his mouth shut if he doesn't want to end up as the next Sammy Sosa. He need to keep his image intact so that the media looks the other way. Otherwise, he will get Bagwell'ed or even worse flat out exposed.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Jays get Ortiz. Put him at first. Trade Encarnacion for Price. Profit.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Ortiz needs to stop with the victim complex. He's an obese 38-year old DH. It isn't a slight against him that Boston isn't thrilled about a multi-year extension. The guy pretty much single handedly won them two of their three world series'. He should be able to say or do whatever the hell he wants in that town. The guy is still an elite hitter. I'd be pretty angry too if they weren't offering me a multi year deal.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 What is this I don't even Sorry, Alex Anthopolous hacked my account for a second.

He should be able to say or do whatever the hell he wants in that town. That's true. Boston fans will never flat out turn on him but I suspect even they must be getting annoyed. He does this every off-season. The schtick is older than he is.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Maybe 14.1M doesn't go that far in the Dominican Republic any more. Gots 2 make mor!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 I actually have a bad feeling that the Bluejays/Bautista relationship is going to end really bad. And that might happen this year. The recipe: 1. Slow start to Jays season 2. Tension in clubhouse 3. Be in sour mood because team is under .500 4. Have televised run in with Gibby or another player 5. Suggest to media that there are problems in the clubhouse 6. State openly that organization not doing enough to win 7. Bitch about salary relative to Fielder and Pujols 8. Demand to be traded 9. Get traded to Rangers or Mariners for less than fair value 10. Get booed every game back for the next 5 years
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 I wish that scenario seemed less fathomable

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Is this what being a Jays fan has come to? AA has driven us to despair
switchhitter Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Is this what being a Jays fan has come to? Our farm system has some talented position players and pitchers. We just need to developed them. I have been following Brenden Kalfus who was drafted in 2013 out of college. Solid tools. He and others can form a solid core for our future.
Convo Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Our farm system has some talented position players and pitchers. Almost every team in baseball can say this, our farm system is still very near the bottom of the talent list. So what you just said does nothing for me.
