What events have to occur in order for the Jays to make the 2014 playoffs?

Answer:

Keep Reyes, Melky and Bautusta healthy

Let Edwin just do his thing

Find a quality starter from within or via trade market

Weed out the bullpen (pretty much done actually)

Stay calm

Agree with all that except Id add:

CJ needs to stay healthy

RA needs to pick it up as he did last start as I don't think MB will end up with these ostentatious numbers.

we need to continue to get reasonable GW contributing efforts from the combo following our top 4 on any given night, as we have been.

world peace.

Someone whose xFIP this season is a half-run worse than that of Sergio Santos.

ECJF gonna rage

Let him. CJ can't hold a candle to Santos (when both are healthy).

I'm full on taking the bait...

I take Janssen 100/100 times over Santos

You're overreacting to Janssen's 0.00 ERA this season. He hasn't actually been so spectacular. It's only a matter of time before he turns into a pumpkin.

Santos has a 14.9% SwStr% this season and a career rate of 13.3%. That's going to make him more successful than Janssen over the long haul.

I'm not just basing this off of this year.

As we all say, Janssen is nails. Santos is a time bomb you never now when he's going to straight up implode.

For my closer I'll take the consistency and command of Janssen over Santos 100/100 times, I don't care if Santos has a few more strikeouts. Santos is still good tho and I hope he comes back strong.

If Casey had a 6.43 ERA through his seven innings with the same peripherals I don't think you'd be singing the same tune. That's what I'm saying. Similarly, what Santos has done this year shouldn't sway you in either direction. He's gotten amazingly unlucky.

2011-13 Janssen is probably better than what Santos is though, I'll add that. If Janssen still is that guy than I give him the edge.

I feel like North is just trying to play devil's advocate because AG doesn't post in the main forum and someone needs to pick up the slack while AG trades valuable pieces for Juan Francisco.

Kevin Seitzer needs to continue being a great hitting coach.

Jose Reyes needs to remain healthy and produce like an all-star. We have several players over-performing, we'll need him and Lawrie to step up offensively when those players cool down.

I don't know what else, but I know if Morrow comes back I don't want him anywhere near our starting rotation.

I would shocked if Morrow comes back and isn't in the pen but stranger things have happened. Tougher for him to get a rotation spot if Happ can produce any even close to what he did yesterday.
