I still think AA likes Santana more for some reason.  How many home runs did he give up in California a couple of years ago, like 40???

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 I'm so tired of the Santana thread I wanted a fresh one. Sorry.

Watch them swoop in and get Jimenez. Mariners Trying To Add Starting Pitcher By Steve Adams [February 14, 2014 at 8:33am CST] Reports yesterday indicated that the Mariners have placed their talks with outfielder Nelson Cruz on hold, and this morning, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that they're now trying to add another starting pitcher either via trade or free agency. Seattle has touched base with both Ervin Santana and Ubaldo Jimenez but is surveying the market in order to find the best fit (Twitter links). Rosenthal adds that it's unclear how the pursuit of a starter will impact their involvement with Cruz, but it's fair to wonder if the team could afford both Cruz and one of Santana/Jimenez at this stage of the offseason.
ExposFan Verified Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 "We're still trying to sign a starter." At the beginning of the off-season, weren't he and his dipshit boss Beeston trying to add two starting pitchers? I'm tired of this fat Greek piece of crap.  Some ninja he turned out to be.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Santana to Baltimore. Jimenez to Seattle. AA left holding Beestons dick. Me left making excuses for AA saying it was smart going with the youth until about the all star game when we're 12 games out and I finally give up on this teams leadership.

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Haha yeah, we heard this all before. AA has nothing to spend. He's just saying these things to make it sound like he tried. Dr. Dinger basically said I was a retard because I think they will do nothing. All signs point to me being right.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 FFS try harder spring training is in like 2 days. Don't even sign Santana though. Jimenez for 3/38 Drew for 2/18 with an opt out clause after year 1 (who gives a f*** about a third round pick) Rock and roll
flafson Verified Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 It's pretty obvious AA is checking out how cold the water is by seeing how low their value goes by waiting.
AngryBird Verified Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) I tried to have a s*** this morning but no luck. Do or do not. There is no try. Pretty much this, if you even talking about "trying" you clearly aren't trying hard enough. You make a plan you go out and sign him, or you make a plan to not. You don't sit around with the rest of the player personnel guys and say "Let's try to sign him", that mindset will get you nowhere. Where's Tim Leiweke when you need him? Put all the Toronto teams under his guidance. Edited February 14, 2014 by AngryBird

Smokey Verified Member Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Audio of the Anthopoulos interview:Â http://www2.tsn.ca/window/podcastcentre/#podcastid=28300Â First question they ask him is: "You sure get asked a lot of questions about free agency and the pitching staff but I suppose Alex, when you look at it, I guess it goes back to your original evaluations of the players you worked so hard to get here in the previous offseason, that you must obviously have faith in the guys you brought in to do the original job, so there for I think your line of thinking is you must have faith that you don't neccassarly have to jump at the FA's otherwise I suppose you would?"Â Alex: "I would say that's fair... but we're still having dialogue with the agents"Â Next question: "...In baseball it takes 5-7 years to develop prospects and it's tough to ask the fans to be patient, but the real good ones are patient"Â Alex: "I agree..."Â I'm done listening to this garbage... The sports journalism in this city is actually more embarrassing than the baseball team.
