GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Defoe leaving was a given though... he checked out a few games into the season lol. Toxic attitude. Here they get a player who should be great in MLS and cash back. Best they could have hoped for. Yeah but if he does well he'll go back to Britain to try again and it'll end up as a revolving door (which may not be an awful thing). Or he may never play for TFC. Cautious optimism.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 http://www.thescore.com/mls/news/682692 TFC signs Sebastian Giovinco!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 This is a far bigger deal than getting Altidore. Their defense is still horrendous though.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 Didn't even realize the season started tonight, TFC win their first!
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 It was a pretty good game. TFC looked solid, hope they can keep it up.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Giovinco and Bradley in the midfield is scary good for the MLS. Their defense is still pretty horrible. Caldwell would struggle defending in a rec league game.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 ronaldo coming to mls in 2018 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 MLS needs to get rid of the salary cap so TFC can use their MLSE money to buy all the European players, then I'll watch/
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 ronaldo coming to mls in 2018 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha 33 year old Ronaldo would score 80 goals in MLS lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 33 year old Ronaldo would score 80 goals in MLS lol. that's a conservative estimate lol
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 that's a conservative estimate lol Well I was assuming that he'll miss half the games due to a loan overseas.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Toronto can't attract the Ervin Santanas of the world but they're going to get the most popular athlete in the world? Lets do it, offer him the Leafs.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I was completely and utterly 100000% serious
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 ronaldo coming to mls in 2018 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I saw this earlier today why why why Totti is 38 but still playing in the Champions Leauge, why is Ronaldo selling out this early???!?!?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Maybe he wants to increase his brand even more in America like Beckham did?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Maybe he wants to increase his brand even more in America like Beckham did? Probably, I mean by 33 he would have won everything he could possibly in Europe (I think only a treble remains for him) and he'll probably want to cash in even more while living that "Hollywood" life that Beckham had... while utterly destroying MLS defences for fun lol
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 If you aren't NY or LA forget it.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I saw this earlier today why why why Totti is 38 but still playing in the Champions Leauge, why is Ronaldo selling out this early???!?!? Ronaldo has accomplished everything an international footballer could accomplish.. Titles in both the EPL and La Liga, trophies, mutliple Balloon d'or's. Maybe he wants to live a chill life in California? It's not exactly easy to maintain the type of motivation required to stay on top in those world class leagues. He could half ass it in America and still be the best player by a mile.

Not a World Cup or a Euro tho But yeah that's the conclusion that I came up with
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I suppose he could still compete with portugal at world cup from the MLS.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I suppose he could still compete with portugal at world cup from the MLS. Absolutely and he's a better player than Beckham was when he joined the MLS. Portugal should still want him.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The only person I really want to see in the MLS is Zlatan...
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The only person I really want to see in the MLS is Zlatan... That would be amazing. The MLS needs a character of that magnitude.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised to see Ibra, Falcao, Fernando Torres, Iniesta, Xavi, Drogba, Robben, etc. come over during the next few years. MLS is growing. It's undeniable.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 MLS is growing. It's undeniable. Wouldn't be surprised if it surpasses the NHL in America in the near future tbh.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Wouldn't be surprised if it surpasses the NHL in America in the near future tbh. Salaries are growing, some great stadiums, lots of talent coming over. It's definitely got a chance to be more popular than hockey in the US. The first goal of MLS should be to retain almost all high-end American talent (Dempsey, Bradley, Altidore are a great start).
