kgm1 Verified Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Moises Sierra DWL .329/.399/.432, 26.4 RC, 6.31 RC/27 outs I just can't believe a guy could spend 6 years in the minors and be that clueless how to play baseball . I still don't believe he will hit in the Majors either but WTF , maybe he is just a late developer with the bat . Can they beat any baseball sense into him in the DWL .

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Prior to getting Lawrie half the board had a hard on for this guy. He got through 19 teams before the Jays claimed him so he's only got 10 more to clear waivers and make it to Buffalo
raBBit Verified Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Not that it matters because he doesn't figure to be a part of the Blue Jays 25 man roster barring a couple injuries but... Morel is a decent fielder at 3B. Can pick it up pretty nicely. That being said, he is a hitter who tried to take everything to RF and yet he doesn't have the power to hit it over a the right fielder's head. In the end, he can be a decent player if you use your DH on him and have a pitcher that can hold his own at the plate.

Not fair, on this dude that's for certain, right BTS. I've honestly never saw BTS use it, but I believe you... I have no problem giving credit where credit is due

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 lol MiLB Career games at 2B: 2 MiLB Career games at 3B: 412 I swear to God this team... Meh. It's not like 2b is more difficult - it's just different. Maybe he can pull it off. Nothing to lose. Probably doesn't matter anyway.
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Morel to play 2B For real? You never know with this organization.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Morel to play 2B Based on what?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Based on Morel saying "Toronto is going to have me play 2B" I was expecting something like a link.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Based on Morel saying "Toronto is going to have me play 2B" Don't see why not. He wasn't lighting the world on fire at 3rd why not see if he can spark something with a change in position.
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I was expecting something like a link. Me too. Or at least a source.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Me too. Or at least a source. I don't see any article about it on BlueJaysAggregator, I don't see any radio interviews on Fan590, and I don't see anything on his twitter feed (outside of the tweet below), am I missing something? All I found is this tweet: Brent Morel @Bmorel_22 Jan 24 Getting my work In at 2b.. Can't wait for spring training to get here!! #bluejays #2014 #mlb http://instagram.com/p/jj8jCsRxUi/ Please tell me that's not what you guys are talking about?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 1. It's an MILB filler, who cares Umm.. you do? I swear to God this team... The first half of that sentence (It's an MILB filler) is exactly my point. It's a triple-A waiver wire pickup getting reps at another infield position? Why does that warrant comments like "I swear to God this team..." or "You never know with this organization"?
Brenner Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 booya who needs Kinsler when you got Morel.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Right, so we're supposed to s*** on a Triple-A position change? Am I missing something? Because after reading the previous few comments, I was getting the impression that the Jays just pencilled him into the starting 2B job. You are making a big deal out of nothing... Jesus Christ Not really making a big deal at all, was wondering why the flame for the organization over a minor pos change?
bendera3 Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Nothing wrong with adding versatility in the minor leagues. It's not like it's a big investment or anything. It just adds another option for when half the starting infield gets injured, again.
The Nemesis Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 So he gets some extra reps at a new position and the Jays have more depth in the minors if they need it. Not really seeing the downside here. Or the big deal considering it would take a minor miracle for him to see MLB innings at 2nd.
The Nemesis Verified Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 The was for if he becomes our starting 2B. The position is so s*** right now, it wouldn't surprise me. I really don't care about a minor league position change, especially for an org filler. I will eat my hat if that happens. I'd almost think they would give Kawasaki 2Bs reps with Toronto before Morel.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I will eat my hat if that happens. I'd almost think they would give Kawasaki 2Bs reps with Toronto before Morel. That's probably our ideal route right now, actually. E: Barring an acquisition.
