TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Usually I hear about this, any idea who's there? The video Hoffman posted made me think he was there, but it could have really been anywhere.

Hoffman has been there for over a month already. Many of the prospects in the system have been there for weeks. There was a photo of those at the strength camp that I'm sure King thoroughly enjoyed. Back row left to right: Some coach probably, don't know, another coach maybe, not sure, Ryan Borucki, Chase De Jong, Jeff Hoffman, Dwight Smith Jr., Danny Jansen, Maxwell Pentecost, don't know, Chad Jenkin's brother, some coach. Front row: don't know, Roberto Osuna, don't know, Richard Urena, some coach, JD Davis I think (not DJ, JD) Edited February 5, 2015 by 43211234

Frag Verified Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 New, and potentially better than WOWY, catcher framing measure released on BP. It uses mixed effects models to dampen the noise between different pitchers and umpires, which results in less extreme values like what were seen with WOWY. Edit: Guess who comes in at 3rd best since 1988?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Whoa, Brad Ausmus was a beast. Mike Piazza was a good defensive catcher all this time? Pretty impressive.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I wonder where Jimenez ranked in the minors. Red Sox looked to have turned Swihart into a great framer when it was questioned if he could stick behind the plate.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Jason Beck #Tigers announce Victor Martinez tore his medial meniscus in left knee during workouts last week. Scheduled for surgery with Dr. Andrews lol Navarro to the Tigers?

Scheduled for surgery with Dr. Andrews lol Navarro to the Tigers? They have a few tasty relievers I wouldn't mind us getting our hands on Alburquerque and Rondon in particular, but Krol could be somewhat interesting as well.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Last time they had to replace V-Mart, they acquired Fielder.

But man, yeah, wouldn't they have slight interest at least in Navarro now? I'm not kidding. Wouldn't this mean the end to V-Mart's season?

StroShow Verified Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Oh that's it? It sounded more serious than that. Yeah it's a pretty common knee injury, kinda like removing bone spurs from the elbow. I was walking ~2 weeks after surgery but the rehab lasted around 3 weeks to get the strength back. For a normal dude? - Yes For an 60 years old dude? - No That's true. I'm actually surprised he still has cartilage in his knees.

I've pitched a long time and had bone spurs removed from my elbow. You're right, it was a fast recovery. I've had three meniscus tear surgeries, too. Fast recoveries. But man, ligaments are a different ball of wax. The rehab, I thought, would take 2-3 months. But I've luckily not experiences one of those s***** deals.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 JA Happ kind of deal Watch him get traded along with other prospects for an ace or expensive pitcher at the deadline, especially when/if Farrell and Cherington are fired at mid-season if the team struggles, and ownership orders big moves to get the team back to the playoffs.. they won't be patient again if the team struggles, especially with $190M+ being spent.. Look, if these big moves fail to get the team back to contention, Farrell and Cherington will not last the season. Two 90 loss seasons (with a fluky World Series win in between) are not good for ticket sales on a big market team like Boston.
