Great story, great velocity. If he's healthy it's a great pickup. No reason to think he's not healthy. I expect the Red Sox will be on him.

Oh god I can just imagine Ramus signing with the Rays and then putting up a 4 WAR season playing one of the corner outfield spots. Pls no.

 

Or he could hit .220 with a .280 OBP while striking out once every 3 at bats. I'm not worried about Rasmus or the the Rays.

I could see Rasmus totally flourish... the guy just wants to f***ing play without all the constant BS... he doesn't work well under pressure

I think Rasmus will always be under pressure given his talent and the teams that will tire aimlessly to get its full potential. Besides, even if he signs a contract, it won't be a long term one and likely a 1 year or 2 year one, he'll find himself under "pressure" soon again.

 

That said, Rasmus is a good buy low candidate but he's someone who needs to get hit by the luck dragon to provide decent numbers.

My biggest issue with him is his inability to have a consistence plate approach. One of the biggest differences last year from the previous one was his stance. He went from a tight stance to just having his arm/bat piratically over the plate. I don't know why he changed that as it was working for him the season before. Not sure if it was KS influence, his dad's or whose ever.

 

He's projected as a league average hitter next season and projected at 1.4 WAR. I could see him getting more, I could see him getting less. I certainly would rather see him out West than potentially have him hit us hard with the O's or Rays. Easy strike out or not, he's still a valuable player.

That does not seem to be terribly likely, of course, if Shields does indeed already have significant interest at nine figures.

Yeah, that was tongue in cheek, bro. Toronto would never pay that...maybe 16-17 and I'd rather not, still.

He's most likely getting more than that. 4/80 would be a decent deal, and I would not complain if we signed him for that. We will have him for years 33/34/35/36. I wouldn't even add a 5th year option, no thank you if he wants 5.

Drew graded out very poorly defensively at 2B last season and that is where the Yankees intend to play him. He's still a good buy low by the Yanks, but unless he learns how to field 2B at a high level, a lot will depend on his inconsistent bat.

Excellent signing by the Yankees. Very good low buy, plus traded Prado for more than they gave up initially

 

Yeah Prado is pretty brutal as a 2B. Drew should be much better and he should probably steal some ss starts from Didi too.
