jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/non-tender-candidate-travis-wood.html Don't think Happ will have a lot of trade value as many people are thinking (posters saying trade Happ to the Cubs or Angels etc), especially if someone like Wood becomes available who likely won't cost $6.5M and assets.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 So Stanton now has zero monetary gain from performing well in his career. It's all on how badly he wants to win. Other than that he can pretty much pack it in and enjoy a multi multi millionaire life in Florida
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Whitesox just signed Zach Duke

I don't know why any GM would do this and I respect that our organization refuses to.
Morrissey Verified Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 (edited) Vizcaino was a former Brave haha Orginally a Yankee who went to Atlanta with Melky Cabrera for Javy Vazquez and Boone Logan, that worked out well lol Edited November 18, 2014 by Morrissey

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Giancarlo Stanton partied with a $20,000 bottle of champagne after signing $325 mm contract.

LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Are teams (Boston) over-valuing Sandoval? How good is his glove? His bat is not that great for a 3B.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 So our friend Jose Canseco is now auctioning off his finger and the gun that shot it off..... More hookers and blow i guess.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Stanton was reportedly so motivated to give the Marlins money to spend on other players over the next few years that he agreed to heavily backload the contract, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN. Stanton will make a combined $30 million ($6.5 million in 2015, $9 million in 2016 and $14.5 million in 2017) over the first three seasons, according to Stark's major-league sources. Under the current structure, Stanton would earn $107 million over the first six seasons before he is eligible to opt out. Should Stanton remain in Miami, the Marlins will be on the hook for the other seven years and $218 million - an average of $31.14 million. Lol at the Marlins. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/634053 Edit: not really sure why Stanton would ever opt out of this. Have a hard time he would get more than 218 million at that age.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 not really sure why Stanton would ever opt out of this. Have a hard time he would get more than 218 million at that age. Well... The Yankees will probably still exist in 7 years...
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Well... The Yankees will probably still exist in 7 years... Yeah but if you look at how much smarter front offices have gotten in the last 7 years then you would think in 7 years time even the big spenders will know that he will be well into the decline stage of his career and there is no point in paying him over 200 million for what he once was. Pujols and Cabrera will be hard lessons as to why not to pay big money for players in the decline stage of their careers.
