glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The Jays are in on VMart according to Heyman. I love this time of year. The Jays are in on everyone while really being in on no one. @JonHeymanCBS: blue jays, mariners among teams joining tigers in hot v-mart derby.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Looks like the Braves are trying to trade Gattis. That would be an interesting target for backup catcher / DH (assuming we got Martin to handle Dickey, or traded Dickey).
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Yep, Jays in on Vmart now. Of course they are "in on" everyone but in the end the dollars and term won't match up and wouldn't be good "value", but they can at least say they were in on them. Anyway, apparently Russell Martin wants some money:

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Yep. Five years. No excuses, AA.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 9m9 minutes ago #Rays are moving closer to dealing Jeremy Hellickson to an NL team. Likely this week I spoke with Alex Colome and his cousin last week, they both said to me than Colome could make the rotation this year. Colome's cousin was the guy who told me about Guerrero Jr and the Jays pre-deal.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Evan Gattis being shopped heavily according to Sherman and Rosenthal. Controllable DH/CA/1B who can hit.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Hellickson being traded to the NL or at least, it's in the process of being worked out http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/rays-working-on-hellickson-trade-with-nl-team.html
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Evan Gattis being shopped heavily according to Sherman and Rosenthal. Controllable DH/CA/1B who can hit. Gattis is pretty good vs righties and he absolutely destroys lefties (last season 171 wRC+) http://www.fangraphs.com/statsplits.aspx?playerid=11003&position=C/OF&season=0#advanced
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 WUT? Stay away from him AA!!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Who Gattis? What don't you like? It was in response to an embedded twee saying David Robertson had turned down the Yankees Q.O.

Some day, some Toronto GM is gonna need to take a risk with a free agent signing.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 MLB.com's Phil Rogers reports that Billy Butler has received a three-year, $30 million offer from a team "widely believed to be the Orioles." Orioles GM Dan Duquette has already denied the report, telling FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal it's "not true. Not even close." It's no surprise that the report appears to be bogus, as Butler doesn't figure to get anywhere close to $30 million. The 28-year-old stumbled to a .271/.323/.379 batting line with nine homers and 66 RBI this season for the Royals

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 ChrisCotillo #Cubs in talks to acquire Jordan Zimmermann from the #Nationals, per @GDubCub Good bye Javier Baez Or Addison Russell or Arismendy Alcantara or Starlin Castro. We'll see what happens. Most likely this deal is going to happen because Desmond's not resigning after 2015, and the Nats can't afford to resign Zimmermann (who's expected to command $20M+/year in free agency), especially with huge dollars going towards core players in the future, including Strasburg and Harper and Rendon.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Red Sox are "all in" on Sandoval.. http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/11861086/boston-red-sox-making-big-push-sign-free-agent-pablo-sandoval Despite Boston's need at 3B, this is a albatross in waiting... his numbers have been declining every year since his MVP caliber year in 2011, and he's no replacement for David Ortiz. Same warning goes for the Giants, White Sox and Blue Jays regarding him. And let's not forget his weight issues which got him benched back in 2010 during that World Series. And his defense is OK, but not exactly elite.
