jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 O's crushing the Rangers 7-1 as Joe Saunders is basically a washed-up pitcher who should be on the Somerset Patriots and not in the MLB..

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 A certain alert for a game with 1 less hit than 1... Jake Arrieta is making the Sox look like a AAA team.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Good news for the Jays, as Kazmir has left the A's game with an undisclosed injury, possibly his hip. https://twitter.com/susanslusser/status/483780912132259840 One less lefty possibly in the next series..

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Has jaysblue not posted how much he hates Arrieta yet?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Stephen Drew breaks up the no-no. But still, dominating performance by Arrieta.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 This is where it gets interesting as a coach ... You have a guy who has been dominating ... and has a no-no going through 7. But he's already thrown 103 pitches. His 3 highest pitches thrown in a game this year are 105, 105 and 100. Assuming he makes it through the 8th with the no-no ... but, let's say, with 115 pitches thrown, do you let him go out for the 9th? At which total would you not let him go back out? IDC. If his fastball is still where it should be, he'll stay in. IF he loses like 10 mph on his fastball, heave ho.

The pitcher makes the call...you just make sure he is feeling good and is in the right mindset....but one hit and you take them out

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Well, looks like the Jays will have a 1 game lead. O's are going to win vs. the Rangers. Outside of Darvish, the Rangers rotation is ravaged by injuries.. no wonder they aren't contending.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Kay and co. are talking about pitch counts.. I'd hate to imagine what it was like with pitchers back before pitch counts were actually counted before teams started babying their pitchers due to the increasing costs.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Betances is struggling tonight.. of course, while he's had a great season so far, Joe Girardi is risking Scott Proctoring him(running him out for 100+ IP and wrecking his elbow.. ask Joe Torre) if he keeps using him at this pace.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 O's win, Jays are 1.0 games up. Rays now lead 3-2.. and the Yanks bullpen looks almost in worse shape than Toronto right now due to overuse.

This is what i mean when people want to fire Gibbons so fast. There are managers out there making stupid decisions every day. Just because Gibby makes a bad one here and there shouldn't mean he's fired.

Just because Gibby makes a bad one here and there shouldn't mean he's fired. True. At least Gibby does a reasonable job managing the bullpen. Girardi has already used Betances for 35 games and 48 IP, on pace for 100 IP, the same pace that got Scott Proctor's elbow blown out. It makes me wonder if the Yankees end up trading Betances, as he is the only commodity on the Yanks that has any decent value, as their farm is lousy, with valuation drops in their OF prospects, Gary Sanchez and Manny Banuelos. Luis Severino has promise.. but he's just as untouchable.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Robbie Thompson is just mad at Ellsbury right now.. he could've scored on Guyer's fielding error, and he stopped at 3rd, which was costly, as Beltran fouled out. Yanks are really struggling to score right now.

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 A's are just unbelievable this year.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Out of division, but El Oso Blanco, aka Evan Gattis, is out, possibly for the rest of the season: Mark BowmanVerified account @mlbbowman Gattis is going on the DL with a bulging thoracic disc. He's likely facing surgery which would end his season. Good thing the Braves have Christian Bethancourt.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Doolittle did very little to help his A's tonight, as he just gave up a walk-off grand slam to former Blue Jay OF Rajai Davis.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 A's are just unbelievable this year. Yet they can't beat the Tigers still, as evidenced by Rajai Davis' walkoff grand slam.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Yet another hit by Kevin Kiermaier! What a guy.. at least something other than pitchers are coming out of the Rays farm.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Kelley gets out of it by K'ing Joyce. However, the Yankees have to win it this inning.. they're down to Jose A. Ramirez and Matt Thornton in the bullpen, with David Huff unlikely to be available.
