Convo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Yes and yes. 104 innings double it. No and no. Take Dickey out after 90 pitches.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Machado finally to serve his suspension. Damn MLB took you guys long enough.
admin Site Manager Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 He still eats innings, bad or otherwise. That's what a inning eater is. Put your bias aside and look at what he'll do. Go over 200 innings again. May not be worth Thor and the best catching prospect jays have ever had but it will be worth his contract. I could eat innings if they put me in there, but it wouldn't be a very smart move. What's the point of saying someone is an innings eater when they are terrible in later innings and shouldn't be on the mound.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Also, consider the fact that we probably could have gotten several other quality starting pitchers for the package of TDA and Syndergaard. Quite possibly ones who may well have performed much better than Dickey has done.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 You guys gotta move on, we're not gonna get back Noah and Travis.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 This is the reason people on here will never take Dickey for what he is, the right handed version of buehrle He isn't though. Buehrle is about as effective late in the game as he is early in the game. He's a true inning eater. Dickey is not.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Yup... it's the same s*** over and over. After 91 pitches opponents are OPS'ing 1.076, and 1.033 after 106. He always gets flustered in later innings. And never picks up his defense if they make an error. This may sound dumb but if Gibbons pulled him after 90 pitches he'd prob be 10-0. Problem is Gibbons hasn't figured this out for some weird reason. It's happened so often that I really think Gibbons defers to RAD. Hopefully, it's just me being wrong again, but I'm afraid there's something to this.

Convo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 But back to the Headley suggestion for a bit. It's just bad. It's the wrong time. You need a guy who you know can help you down the stretch. He is not that person, given his medical issues. And if your saving grace to his acquisition is that you're looking longer-term (which isn't what they're doing here, but let's just say they are), since it's unlikely he'll be a short-term boost to your playoff chances, you have to be positive you can extend him, and that he'll be worth an extension. But if you're in his shoes ... and this is your first crack at potential free agency, if you think you're worth a decent extension, are you going to be signing it following this disaster of a season? Or are you going to pillow contract it? And if you think you're going to struggle, and you accept a discounted extension, you're banking on you sucking. And then you're stuck with suck, most likely. So far this year, he missed a month of spring training with a calf strain. He then fought through a bicep strain and a sore knee, before he was "thankful" to rest those while he nursed a different calf strain while on the 15 day DL. Now he's fighting a herniated disc, which is bothering him, despite an epidural. He won't know if it will heal on its own for quite some time, and it may require surgery. So, you'd be acquiring a guy with a preexisting injury, and extending him when he may require back surgery. Because any back surgery is so easy to come back from at your prior level of play. Oh, and he dealt with calf, back and knee issues in 2013, as well (arthroscopic knee surgery following 2013) ... after returning from a broken thumb. Who were you on the old board?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 "Leaked info from #Astros database, per Deadspin, reveals #Marlins offered Giancarlo Stanton last year to #Astros for Correa and Springer." Why the hell were the Astros interested in Stanton?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Bob Nightengale @BNightengale ·3m The #Yankees, according to the website, Anonbin, which obtained the leaked info, offered Ichiro to #Astros in March and willing to eat $4.5M
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Wow, huge notes on the Jays tldr Last August AA asked for Norris, said everyone is off the table except Sanchez. Luhnow asked for Stroman +. AA said he would get back to him. AA then asked what he wanted specifically Luhnow said Gose + Stroman Later in November they said Lawrie is untouchable.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 [Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski] and [Luhnow] texted. JL said taht we would do Norris + Veras for Castellanos and that we would consider Norris for Jake Thompson. DD said that SP was not a priority for them now but that they would consider those names and get back to us. This sounds like one of my trade proposals in the BBDL. Wonder how Domb was so polite in return lol

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Royals signed Raul Ibanez, who washed out with the Angels.. but KC is desperate for offense, plus Ibanez is a former Royal from 2001-03.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If the jays have a crappy July, we should make a play for Castellanos if he's available. Something like Buehrle + money + Janssen + Melky/Rasmus

We went to a few clubs then ended up at a strip club at like 2AM, same one for all I know. Think it was pretty much shutting down but people just kinda hanging out. My one buddy is a big dude (pic attached) and this stripper was all over him. Took his shirt off, was dancing all over him, etc. My buddy just sat there and let her. 20 minutes later she gets off him and says, "That'll be $20." And my buddy was like "What?! Are you f***ing kidding me?! Look at me, you should be paying me." Bouncers got involved and was a big deal, but then my buddy just ended up paying the $20. But was ********. Was just hilarious that she was all over him, he couldn't have cared less, and she pulled that s***.

But honestly, what's the point of going to them? You get a case of massive blue balls cause you can't touch or do anything. And you pay $$$ just to watch girls. You're better off watching porn, hiring a hooker or buying a fleshlight from amazon. To me, strip clubs are as irrelevant nowadays compared to Hustler or Playboy magazines.
