HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Marty Caswell @MartyCaswell 2m Bud Black did not hold normal post game presser but I've been told Andrew Cashner has been scratched from tomorrow's start vs SF AA?
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 He went 7 innings on the 18th and he held his velo quite well. Unless I missed him leaving the game or having soreness it seems like an injury would be completely out of left field.

Possible. San Diego is blowing up the franchise with the team heading for a last place finish, and they're trying to get young players. Also, I've heard they're calling up Odrisamer Despaigne. As you know, Josh Byrnes was just fired, and likely ownership has ordered a fire sale. Makes you wonder if Tampa will pull the same thing by firing Andrew Friedman and Joe Maddon in the next few weeks as well, with that team in the same dire straits as the Padres and little hope for the future. Considering they're expected to deal many veterans and David Price at the deadline, it can't be ruled out.

Wherever it is I don't know.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Actually, I'm betting it is an injury. Cashner's not a free agent until 2017. Didn't realize this until I saw his contract info on Cot's.

It would take time to work it out...i don't see how you could fire your GM and the intern would be able to pull that off 24-48 hours later.

Imagine the Angels record had they had CJ Cron playing DH every day instead of Raul Ibanez.. they'd be neck and neck with the A's. Cutting Ibanez was a move long overdue. CJ Cron's emergence was the thing the Angels needed to get them into contention. They still need another pitcher and bullpen help, though.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Jose Fernandez had no signs. There were some signs in JF's start. Only went 5 innings, huge velo dip at ~45 pitches and he left the game with elbow soreness. I'm not saying that Cashner isn't hurt, just that there are no obvious signs at the moment.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Cashner spent 24 days on the DL earlier this year with an elbow strain and has a history of arm injuries. If he's not hurt at the moment he probably will be soon, unfortunately. Traded a closer for him a few years back and kept him for a long time always on the DL. Another Rich Hardin?

Very likely it's soreness/an injury then but I'm hoping he just needs some rest or they are holding him back because of an innings limit.

So because of injuries in one year clear out the Front Office and dismiss what the Rays have done over the past how many years where they were a far superior team than the Jays on a shoestring budget. God you're a f***ing idiot.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Is the Knob right, will the Rays trade Price to the Jays for a package including Sanchez? Find out next time on "According to Nox & Friends"

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 If Sanchez is a throw-in rather than a centerpiece..I wonder what they want as the centerpiece. There really isn't anyone else on the 25-man roster that would fit for the Rays except Lawrie/Stroman...
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Sanchez as a throw in? Sure. Otherwise: "Lol" I thought you had it on good authority that they didn't want him? edit: that is a mighty hell of a throw in
Nox Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I thought you had it on good authority that they didn't want him? edit: that is a mighty hell of a throw in I'm fully aware the Jays wouldn't/shouldn't use Sanchez as a throw in. I'm sure there are other orgs would value him quite a bit higher than that. Ruben Amaro might think he's Jose Fernandez 2.0 for instance. As a long term Jays fan, I do hope they trade Sanchez. I don't see him adding much value from the 25 man.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 get er done Yep Sanchez and any other top 10 prospect in the system except Stroman

Maybe they think they have the ability to improve his command. At the same time, they still view themselves as contenders in 2015 so they likely would ALSO want a major league player in the deal.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Again, I think AA should mostly do trades with Philadelphia and Seattle.
