KC leading Detroit 2-1 in the 9th

Detroit sux

Rajai hitting leadoff 0-4 with 2K

KC will be leading the AL Cenrltral by 1.5 games if they hang on here

What a collapse in Detroit. To think they were 7 up on May 18th.. an 8.5 game swing in about a month to the downside, compared to a 4.5 game gain for the Jays. Wonder if changes are coming in Detroit soon.

Funny because Wood was basically an average starter.

11% above average xFIP, he was above average. Not a GOAT but very, very good.

11% above average xFIP is "very very good"?

Off topic, but is this the great pitching performance of all time?

I highly doubt anything tops 9 IP, 20 K, 0 BB, but let me know if I'm missing something.

Holy s*** I remember that game. What a spectacle that was. What made it even more impressive was that it came against the very good Houston Astros led by Biggio and Bagwell. Kid making his 5th career ML start and mows them down like it's no big deal.

Travis Snider struck out Joey Votto.

Confused.... why is Snider pitching? And if he is, I guess he's now considered totally expendable to that org.

I'll use FIP to increase the sample since his FIP- is 88 which is almost the same.

Puts him in the conversation with Don Drysdale, Steve Carleton, Madison Bumgarner, David Price, David Cone, Steve Rogers, Josh Beckett, Doug Fister, and Corey Kluber. I'd say that's very very good.

Are you making stuff up? Bumgarner's career FIP/xFIP is 3.14 3.32.... Wood's is 3.83 3.81. That's a different ballpark.

Stats with a "-" or "+" suffix are adjusted for run environment and park. It's a cool stat.

you know in the NL there's different rules and you run out of pitchers sometimes usually when the team gives up alot of runs and you have to use a position player to pitch?

Right.... but Snider has never pitched before. This says a lot about what they think of him.

Chris Davis has pitched (multiple innings?) for the Orioles.

Pre-2013 Chris Davis pitched 2 innings, yes.

Kershaw with a. No hitter threw 7, perfect game ruined by Hanley with a throwing error

Has it ever actually happened where a pitcher's thrown 9 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB but lost the perfect game to an error?

Would it still be considered as a perfect game with the error?

Ah nevermind I see that they consider it as a no hitter. Kind of crappy considering he still hasn't given up a hit or a walk.

Amazing performance and a wonderful call by Vin Scully...obviously doesn't care about superstition mentioning the no-hit bid quite a few times throughout the evening. Too bad about the throwing error since it really should have been a perfect game. Enjoyed seeing it in front of the home fans too.

Trade for LOOGY Snider for BP

Obvious move
