Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Sonny Gray had been keeping them off the bases. Only 2 hits. But just had two wild pitches during one at bat. Wild pitches might be a slight understatement.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I don't know about that, but I prefer to watch Tanaka's skill set. He has better command than Darvish you can see him going 220+ innings in a season. And f*** the Yankees for just buying a 25 year old probable work horse + Cy Young candidate while we couldn't even land Ervin f***in' Santana.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 And Odorizzi fails to complete 5 innings.. poor timing, especially with a series vs. Boston coming up, which Boston could easily sweep with the Rays sending out Bedard, Archer and Ramos. They need Cobb and Hellickson back soon.. or their season could spiral out of control. Free Nate Karns
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Love seeing the White Sox pound the Rays. It helps both of our teams It's only been a few years but I'm already very tired of Tampa being so good. You?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Depending what happens with the Rays/White Sox game tonight, Rays will have the most overworked pen in the majors.. and they don't have a Todd Redmond to eat innings.. they're going to burn out Leuke, Gomes, Bell and McGee soon if they can't get length from starters.. sounds as bad or worse than our Jays, especially considering Maddon hasn't had to deal with this since 2007.

It's insane how lucky they had been with SP health until this month

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 True. Rays took their depth for granted and went all-in by keeping Price and spending extra to retain Loney. Watch out for a fire sale at the deadline if the Rays continue to struggle.

Watch out for a fire sale at the deadline if the Rays continue to struggle. I don't see anyone running away with the division in the East. Cobb will be back in June probably. I think they can make a push later on as long as they stay around .500.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Wanted Sierra or Goins didn't you? Very limited editions those are!! haha I wish.. I am looking forward to the Reyes and MB ones though. My collection is growing strong.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 He of the 8.02 ERA, 1.734 WHIP, 6.3 BB/9IP? No way. He'd get crushed in the MLB, especially in the AL East. Matt Andriese or Mike Montgomery are more likely options. And Enny Romero isn't polished enough yet.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Agreed.. the Yanks are going to cool off sooner or later, as their pitching isn't strong after Tanaka, and what about Pineda? Also note the Yankees haven't exactly had a strong schedule, which has included Houston, Boston (twice), our Jays, the hapless Cubs, and the Angels. A third of their wins so far has been on beating up Boston, which shows that the Red Sox are not playing well.

Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Yep. When we were thinking he might actually get a 4 or 5 year deal When it became 1 year and he was the last FA available most were all for it I suggested signing Santana and got berated by the hive. Basically, people said he was a s***** pitcher not worth signing ( some said at any price or duration ). Many of the same posters were annoyed we didn't spend $14M on Josh Johnson. Here's the reality, people always want to find some bounce back all star and say they were right after the fact, ignoring things like injury risk, recent performance, and consistency. Signing a lower ceiling guy to get you innings who is likely a winning pitcher on a good hitting team isn't the sexy choice is it ? If Santana were a hitter, he might be Stephen Drew. Strangely, people want him on an expensive, long term deal. He's inconsistent and a lower ceiling then true star players, but wants all star type money. Not unlike Santana, until he settled on a one year deal. I wouldn't want Drew longer then 2014-2015, I have a bad feeling that he's the kind of "almost star" that looks like a very bad contract by age 32-33. Maybe I'm wrong on this, I just wouldn't be chasing Drew with a significant portion of payroll when our main need next season and beyond will be OFs ( and the usual league wide shortage of pitching, but there is hope in that regard for the Jays ).
flafson Verified Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 King, those Sierra GIF's are gold! They are but he learned from them and didn't do something like that in a while. Problem is, while he improved his base running, he stopped hitting.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 tampa continuing to slip. If this continues, I can't help but be intrigued by where Price will go and how much a team will be willing to pay. I think the Yankees will be in on him, but not sure if they have anything to offer...

I guess the Shields-Myers trade is a good place to start, although that was a terrible overpay by the Royals to begin with.

I think that if something like Shields/Myers trade had been on the table, Price would have already been moved.
