TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 anyone watching the Tigers broadcast...looked like a sure double for Abreu off the line but the announcers just wouldn't say it during the challenge. Just in complete denial.

Just in complete denial. As far as I know hitting the line = fair ball? I don't understand why they were so torn. Cubans taking over for Chicago!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Terrible baserunning, but lmao, what a terrible throw from Rajai. Did Avila even touch him? Looked clearly safe from the first angle.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I'm listening to the White Sox announcers lol. Horrible. Not only are they homers but there seems a lot of dead air where they have nothing to say. I'm starting to appreciate Pat and Buck more listening to some other guys.

We have it a lot better than people care to admit.

You shouldn't really judge Buck and Pat by comparing then to Hawk. That's like comparing a line out to a Moises Sierra strike out.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Carbonnel would be a good sign. Could use a 4th OF.

Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Very few crews are worse than Pat and Buck IMO. Nope.

Steve Stone can suck my balls, though.
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Very few crews are worse than Pat and Buck IMO. Nope. But I imagine it's a lot easier for you to be antagonistic.

That's like comparing a line out to a Moises Sierra strike out. One example. I was listening to the Cleveland announcers the other day and I thought they were awful.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Off the top of my head, announcing teams worse than Buck and Pat: Royals (Rex Hudler in particular, unbearable) Angels Phillies No one else comes to mind. Best 3: Red Sox, by far Yankees Rays or Astros. Probably lean Astros. I like the Orioles, too
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Not trying to be antagonistic at all. The Sportsent broadcast is objectively terrible. Do you have MLB.tv? Learn what objectively means, Queen!
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Not trying to be antagonistic at all. The Sportsent broadcast is objectively terrible. Do you have MLB.tv? No but I've tasted the other broadcasters from streams and when other games are on SNET. I suspect I'm not going to win this battle, I just enjoy them... maybe it's because I'm comfortable with them. At the end of a work day I don't really want to be overwhelmed with information... they seem to genuinely enjoy broadcasting and they are pretty good story tellers... that's pretty much all I care about (the rest I can fill in for myself). And I really don't care at all that Buck sometimes has a speech impediment or anything like that.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 So far this year my favourite announcers have been Seattle. I looked up who it was but I've since forgotten. The Pawsox announcers in the Bisons game were pretty good today, they just didn't talk about velocity quite enough

Yankees and the entire NL West are good too. Last year I found the Orioles guys were great, but they annoyed me during the Jays series last week.

I truly believe they are among the worst but I do think that they are okay announcers for people like my Mom that watches every game but couldn't care less about stats. I don't mind Joe Siddall so far but I haven't listened to many games and I've heard several English language butcherings. I remember one was "either of the three"
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I get that. I watch them myself from time to time. They seem to spew inaccurate and misleading information a lot more than most broadcasters though. That's possible, I may be used to filtering out the nonsensical information.
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Do you like any of the Blue Jays current/former broadcasters (including radio)? Ashby? Joe Siddall? Howarth? Jack Morris?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Very few crews are worse than Pat and Buck IMO. Have you heard the All Star break and the different postseason broadcasts?? It makes you have a bit of appreciation for Buck and Pat. Buck and Pat bicker about the old days, at least they don't try to make themselves smart by breaking down almost every play with s***** analysis. Literally all they do is comment about the game, go on tangents, and talk about the "good ole' days" Imagine having Hawk as our broadcaster..... *shudder*

STRETCH, STRETCH, YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOARD YES!! Seattle is amazing. TB, Boston, and SD are also top-notch IMO. Alan Ashbey is awesome and they're showing WAR in Houston so they're doing something right

Like I said, I like Buck and Pat only because they're easy to listen to after a long day of work... you can almost just tune them out.
