Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 So with a similar logical structure, an argument can be made that will convince you to trade me Fernandez then? I can't wait till you acquiesce to my trade offer! I really can't think of anyone I'd trade him for outside of Trout and Harper. It's beyond anything rational.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I was at a game where Bautista hit two against Price, so I have anecdotal evidence against your point and you are wrong. I was also at a game where JPA hit 2 HR's. He's awesome too and releasing him was a massive mistake. I remember that game. I believe both pitchers were cutters painted on the outside black that he pulled over the left field fence and left Price with a WTF kind of look
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I think Samar is a breakout candidate. If he goes for less than Sanchez + something else worth something, the Cubs didn't do good. There should be one elite prospect coming back. Also I think everyone should just completely disregard the Fister deal for a comp. That flew in face on last few years market prices
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 FTFY.... *tears* Oh... you went there.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 My new xxFIP stat (that is the best predictor of any stat). Has Fernandez as the number 1 pitcher in 2013. Followed very closely by Harvey. http://www.breakingblue.ca/2013/12/03/one-estimator-to-rule-them-all-xxfip-part-1-xk/ Jason Parks agrees with you and so does my turgid member.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Oh... you went there. Oh I f***ing went there. I'm dangerous. I'm crazy. I'll go where no one else dares to go. *tears*
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Also, your stat is awesome (because it validates my completely biased opinion).
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Oh I f***ing went there. I'm dangerous. I'm crazy. I'll go where no one else dares to go. *tears* Chris Sale is too frail and gangly, he'll never pitch a full season or find consistent command. I for one am glad we picked a safe bet to contribute at the MLB level like Deck McGuire. [dives through window]
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I remember that game. I believe both pitchers were cutters painted on the outside black that he pulled over the left field fence and left Price with a WTF kind of look Yeah I was in the 500s so I don't remember the pitches exactly. I think it was 2010 and he was on an absolute tear at the time, and seeing JB launch not 1 but 2 off of him was pretty sweet.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I lied. 2011... http://blogs.thescore.com/mlb/2011/04/26/what-i-like-about-jose-bautista/
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 6'6, 180 lbs Think about that for a second. Sale makes tercet look like Dwight Howard.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 What's funny is I might even take Fister over Price, and they the Tigers gave him away for free while the Rays will get a huge return for Price. Dem CY's!!!!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Dem CY's!!!! @DavidPrice14 3x ALLSTAR...2 time player choice...runner up cy...AND CY

I don't agree with this at all. Imo if your new stat is suggesting this, you need to take another look at the stat.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 We'll see when Price has a 3.80 ERA next year I'll take the under on that. $100?
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'll take the under on that. $100? I'd be willing to commit to my first board wager, and indirectly put my reputation on the line also. Betting on the under of 3.80 for Price.
Nox Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I don't agree with this at all. Imo if your new stat is suggesting this, you need to take another look at the stat. It's not just JFAs' stat that thinks they're near equivalents.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The O/U would have to be 3.45. But I'm not a huge gambling man. No way I'm taking that bet. He could go over and still be excellent.
Nox Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Dan Szymborski @DSzymborski18h ZiPS has Fister projected in WAS next 2 years at 7.9 WAR. ZiPS projects David Price in WAS next 2 years at 8.5 WAR. Dan Szymborski @DSzymborski18h So essentially, at least according to ZiPS, Nats get a pitcher 3 runs a year worse than David Price for *much* less than Price would cost.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 It's not just JFAs' stat that thinks they're near equivalents. Don't get me wrong, I think Fister is underrated by quite a bit, and if you factor in the difference in cost to acquire each of them I would probably choose Fister. There is no way I would even think about doing so all things being equal though.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Of course the jays are infatuated with him, AA looked at the innings pitched and assumed he's a reliever.

But after the Fister trade happened and I really started to look at his numbers I came to realize I was definitely underrating him. He's really good. Gun to my head I still take Price (talent alone I'm speaking of) but it's really not a big gap at all.
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Kenny says A's about to deal Seth smith to padres so we don't have to worry about Anderson being the next move anymore
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Although it may not be today one interesting quote from mlbtr was this: 3:08pm: The Athletics aren't going to trade Anderson today, tweets John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group (on Twitter). However, the A's are seeking bullpen depth. If the A's are seeking bullpen depth for Anderson the jays could definitely offer up some relievers. In fact I think a santos for Anderson 1 for 1 swap is pretty fair, both have big injury history but both can be effective when they are playing to their potential and both fill a hole for both teams.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Hahaha.....speaking of innings pitched, a lot of writers on the interwebz talk about Sharks low mileage on his arm because he QB'd in College, I was thinking wouldn't all the reps he's thrown with a heavier ball debunk that theory? Just wondering...... He played WR Spanks!
