Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Everyone is going to pitch well in that ballpark and division. It's about IP, Walk, K, HR/FB%
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I'll be watching..gotta root for the guy Hope he proves this FO wrong for trading him He would also prove them right for drafting him. Overpaid, no doubt, but they deserve credit for guys like this, Nicolino and Syndergaard. I certainly wish they hadn't gone all in, but it is what it is.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Damn, DeSclafani's numbers are legit. Yeah but but would have been a pain in the ass to type that name all the time
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 It's gonna hurt when Synder, Desclafani and Nicolino are doing great and Sanchez becomes the next drabek.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Norris' A+ numbers much better than Sanchize. Norris new saviour?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 His nickname in Lansing was Disco Now that's excellent
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 D. J. Davis tonight: 3-4, HR, BB. He's raised his BA by .040 the last few days.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Man, I love prospects with plus plus speed, but those strikeouts are unsightly. Yeah, no doubt, out of control. He also stole his 5th base of the season....and was CS for the 8th time.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 D. J. Davis tonight: 3-4, HR, BB. He's raised his BA by .040 the last few days. 5.4% walk and 36.2% K Average pop and tons of K's is a lethal combination
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Nicolino isn't anything special Still just last week Bowden was talking about how Nicolino would be a centre piece in an Utley deal for the Marlins. Even with the 3.82 K/9 he's still doing better than a 3 to 1 K to BB ratio. Sanchez has walked 5 or more 3 times this year....Nicolino has walked 5 in 37 innings.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Marlins really seem to target dealing for these guys who's K's don't match their stuff. Eovaldi, Alvarez, Turner, Nicolino
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Bump. Well played This was the guy to keep. Nice to see those projections for him being at least a 2/3 caliber starter holding up so far. Such a (relatively) short development time post draft too. Beauty draft and development.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I picked Stroman Me too Heck, I had a Stroman avatar at the time

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Sanchez high ceiling over Stroman high floor
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Sanchez high ceiling over Stroman high floor IMO there isn't even much to suggest that Sanchez has a higher ceiling at this point. Stroman is just straight up a better asset.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 IMO there isn't even much to suggest that Sanchez has a higher ceiling at this point. Stroman is just straight up a better asset. He has that 97-98 mph 2 seamer But Stroman has a much more well rounded, fully developed arsenal
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 As I posted in the GDT, Stroman is getting whiffs, avoiding walks and getting ground balls. He can be a TOR starter if he keeps that up. And nothing I've seen suggests he can't. It's not like he had clearly inferior stuff either. Sits 94-95 with a wipeout breaking ball.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Right now it's Stroman, and it's not even close. The fact Stroman can consistently throw strikes is one thing. But the fact he's doing it in the Majors is even better.

Good change up tonight too Nice arsenal (yeah I like that term)
theblujay Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Replace Stroman with Norris and we have a relevant poll.

As a starter his SSS GO/AO rate isn't impressive (.97), although they don't seem to be squaring up his pitches that often. I could see him having his fair share of long ball issue's all season, especially at the rogers centre.
HASHTAGYOLOSWAG Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 bandwagon David Robertson 60 IP guy (Stroman) Vs Mat Latos 200 IP guy (Sanchez) ...
