I'm not expecting anything big from AA anymore. Unless he finds a suitor for mark b who prob wants out

I can see bautista go though

It also wouldn't surprise me to see rasmus traded

I think Bautista should go. If we could get a player of equal talent or a couple good players, I think we should do it. Let's change the character/makeup of the team. I would still like to see a blockbuster with Reds where we move Bautista, and other parts get Phillips an Bruce.

I would actually look for a young pitcher. That's what Bautista should moved for even Rasmus or I dare say Encarnacion.

Not really much in the way of assets unless aa is willing to trade further prospects. I can see teams going for Bautista his bat is still enticing.

I think Mark B will be moved for sure. Teams in nl will be willing to take him on.

"willing to take him on"

i'd like to know which NL team is willing to pay 37 mil for an aging middle of the rotation pitcher. his contract is impossible to move unless the jays absolve some of the costs and that's just not happening, we're in 'contenders' mode so offloading players isn't an option

Here we go...!

f***ed up Cubs, we just signed................................Michael Broadway

Compare to what FA pitchers ate going for that 37 mil is a bargain for guaranteed 200lp middle of rotation pitching

Right now the contracts untradeable, after the contacts garza and ervin get, its tradeable

Take it FWIW. Gershman used to work for New Hampshire in jays org and lately worked inside ESPN.

Please not Jimenez

@Dave_Gershman

Also, heard from a source that the #BlueJays have interest in Ubaldo Jimenez but not on a four-year deal.

LOL. I have an interest in Kate Beckinsale but only if my wife lets me.

Remember when he was hitting .400 and everyone wanted to #FreeNegrych?

Sorry, I don't.

I remember when a lot of people wanted him up, because as a 28 year old he scorched AAA for a month.

No f***ing way. Our payroll is full of garbage, little room to operate (Buehrle, Romero, Reyes?)

As evidenced by the Miami trade, AA will overpay for other teams' elite MIF talent signed to long-term FA priced contracts. You and I both know AA would rather trade for Tulo than just sign Cano.

Maybe he'll be involved in the talks, but not as a serious suitor. Colorado doesn't have a desperate need to move him so it should take a king's ransom. The Cardinals can afford that, but we simply don't have the pieces or need.

Basically how I feel as well. I suspect AA will try very hard to land Tulo but, ultimately will not have the pieces to make it happen.

I want news. Any news. I don't really give a s*** about the playoffs, so I haven't had any baseball news for for so long.

The playoffs were great though. Didn't watch much??

It only takes a couple minutes and is a lot of fun!

Is this really getting on anyone else's nerves?

I don't imagine it's even in the ballpark. One top-20 prospect > that entire package.

Im sure teams still value Sanchez highly especially if they think his issues are mechanical. He's putting up a low 3 ERA with these issues, imagine if he worked on getting on a more downward plane and using his size

I'm trying to come up with an offer that makes sense for Tulo, and I really can't. I'm assuming Colorado won't want Ed or Jose if they're moving him, because it won't fit with their time to contention. They don't need Lawrie with Arenado in the fold. So Sanchez + Stroman + ....? I don't think we even come close to having the pieces without flipping Jose/Edwin off first for other pieces and then including those pieces for Tulo.

They'd have to want Rasmus (who would demolish in COL) on a long-term deal. The spec' would be Sanchez and AA would probably have to give up a low A guy like Norris while eating some of Rasmus' salary to even get in to the ballpark.

Nobody's signed up in almost 12 hours... so I have to do something.

Also, admin said he's make the Contest Thread a sticky. Can you do that Gsnarls?

I'll see if I can

TBH my issue is the 50. I'd rather it were 20. Some of those 30-50 range guys are like who? Or who cares?

Would you empty Jays farm for Max Scherzer?

I wouldn't empty it because he is a Boras client and you will have to empty your wallet to keep him beyond next season. I'd give them Sanchez + Stroman + but they'll get more than that including at least one elite talent. I could see the Orioles sending Bundy + Schoop or something along those lines since they have such a hard time developing pitchers.

since they have such a hard time developing pitchers.

using that statement to talk about other teams while being a jays fan is the pot calling the kettle black.

problem is that the jays cant develop players(period)

Please, no Jiminez. 180 innings of a 4.25+ ERA just isn't that helpful.

He's posted an xFIP of 3.71 or under in 4 of the last 5 years and an ERA under 3.5 in 3 of the last 5 years. He's posted 3.2 WAR or higher in 5 of the last 6 years. I think he has a chance to be a lot better than you're giving him credit for.

It's a risky move, and he certainly isn't an ace, but I'd be quite happy with 4 years at 12 to 14 per.

Why would anyone empty their farm system (unless they are contenders and an another star pitcher away from winning a ring) for a guy who is 100% testing free agency? No way.

Trade Jose, trade J.A Happ, trade some bullpen arms. get a super sub who can mash lefties and let gose/sierra be the last two outfielders. I still don't get why Derosa is back on this team(its so retarded)

I don't think we have the pieces to get it done without completely gutting our future. I don't feel Scherzer is anywhere near enough to put us over the top especially if we have to trade from our major league roster as well moving a guy like Lawrie. No offer to be made in my opinion. Not even sure why the Tigers would want to move him. Porcello I understand.

I agree totally it would be silly for the Jays to pursue

However, I see why they are considering trading him. They think it will cost a fortune to keep him beyond 2014 and would rather get a young cheaper starter in return plus fill another position of need while they're at it.

That said, I doubt he gets traded. I don't see a team giving them what they want. If Tigers are having a poor 2014 I could see him being moved at the trade deadline though for a lot less.

I just don't think he's right for this division. The guy has big command issues and is already out of the game in the 6th inning more often than not. Add in the fact that he imploded in 2012 and has had his velo drop four years running and I think there's disaster potential there.

His velocity has dropped slightly, but he also started throwing cutters the last 2 years which are likely impacting his average fastball velocity (pitchfx etc has difficulty differentiating between the two for most pitchers). He's still hitting 96, so it's not like his velocity is hurting that bad.

I agree that he doesn't go as deep as he should, but at least he is durable.
