And he twists his ankle and is out until May.

So possible. LOL. That would be sooo "Brett Lawrie" of him.

I wonder how many tries before he got this

He really is a pretty spectactular athlete. Reflexes, speed, strength. Obviously your body type somewhat determines what you're best suited for, but rewind this guy 10 years, retrain him, and I wouldn't bet against him becoming any of:

Olympic track and field star

NHL defenseman or goalie

NFL running back

That would be better than the donuts he was doing in the dome parking lot, getting into an accident last May.

CFL RB, maybe.

He clearly picked the one sport where it hurts you to go all out, all the time. But I agree with Dinger, every NFLer is just as athletic and ripped as him, his body wouldnt give him an edge

Sure, there's a million guys with muscle mass like that. What makes him special is the reflexes and explosiveness.

Seriously??

couldn't get confirmation from anyone legitimate but this was directly from a security guard for the dome that was on duty at the time.

God damn this guy is a freak. Too bad he's a dumb douchebag.

I swear to god I went to school with a guy who reminded me so much of Lawrie. Pretty athletically included, but dumb as a stump too... almost to the point of being semi-retarded.

My computer only lets me view vine videos. I'm assuming he's wearing beats headphones and probably risking injury for next season.

Lawrie is not as good an athlete as the average NFL skill position player. Sorry.

Depends what his 40 time is..need that speed. Sure his 40 time would be underwhelming for NFL skill player though

Adrian Peterson is a special talent. Lawrie wouldn't come close.

To him? Noooo. How does he compare to the average or second string RB? Hard to say. Interesting question though.

There just aren't many guys in MLB with the athleticism of Lawrie, Trout, Puig, etc. Most are in the majors cause they can do one thing really well, like have great arms and can pitch or have great hands and can hit.

He doesn't train to be one though. Who knows what he is capable of.

Probably not likely though, but I don't think he's far off.

The guy is a freak.

This is a guy that most people said he wouldn't be able to stick at 3B, yet in his first year he was a well above average defender. That's something that 99.9% of athletes could not do.

Posted
And I'm not saying let him try out for the Detroit Lions now. I'm saying what if, 10 years ago, he'd decided he wanted to be an NFL player and trained for that instead of baseball. Could he have done it.

99.9% is a huge stretch

its really hard to say. I guess he could probably be but i don't think he would be as good as the better running backs in the NFL. But i have nothing to back that statement up.

Well it is an impossible question.

Sigh, we need baseball news
