TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I have three papers to write but my head is about to explode, so I thought I'd hit my friends at the unofficial Rays board to see what the prediction is for the Price deal (which is 100% going to happen, if for no other reason...I'm seldom wrong). I'm really struggling to think of who is already on the hook for a deal, although they will probably wait until the Tanaka posting happens. My very first thought was the Nationals with Rendon heading to the Rays but I'm not 100% sure the Nationals want to create any new holes. Maybe the Rays include Sean Rodriguez and get Giolito and Rendon.

Who are these Jays? This is a Rays thread...although talking about hot girls that we've never heard of from the CMA's is also acceptable. I really just need distractions
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Dodgers. Joc Ped and Urias, or maybe AJ Ellis, and/or other arms.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 I can see the Rays wanting a catcher. Bethancourt might be a target and Braves have plenty of arms the Rays would like.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Maikel Franco + 20 millions for Price Amaro want him
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 How about the Orioles finally making a splash? Gausman would be a nice addition, though they don't really have much else that would interest me. Cobb Moore Archer Gausman Hellickson/Odorizzi/Colome/Romero Still a damn fine rotation, and dirt cheap. Not sure what else they could add though. Rays might be willing to take that Bundy guy, but the Rays M.O. has been to trade for mostly close to the majors guys so Gausman might work. I can see them doing a bat and pitcher so Schoop and Guasman maybe.
tercet Verified Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Stroman, Sanchez, DJ Davis.. I'd do that probably if on the contingent we can sign him to a 5-6 year deal.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Yeah I'd do that in a nanosecond. I started the off-season thinking the Jays should trade their prospects and go all in to try to at least make one run with the current core but the more it goes, the more I realize that I have very little faith that it would actually work. I just don't have any optimism at this point so I'd actually prefer for AA to sign mediocre free agents, make a show of going for it while holding to what little prospects are left. I don't think this is good point in David Price's career arc to be acquiring him anyways. Tamba Bay will want a James Shields type return for a player who probably won't be a James Shields type performer going forward.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I'd take Price over Shields going forward and it isn't close. Price still throws 94, that's well above average for a lefty or righty and his BB rate was stellar this year.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 his bb rate was unsustainable this year ftfy
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 ftfy I think 8 K/9 and 2 BB/9 is attainable next year.
Nox Verified Member Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Giolito + Rendon makes alot of sense. The Rays are known to love Giolito (as far as arms go). The discussion of Jays trade packages should probably just stop.
