Pete_7 Verified Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 When are the GM meetings? Since the trade last year was Nov 13
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I heard the Jays were in on McCann at 3/45 with 2 club options for 15 each again, 1m buyout. AA will surely do his diligence to improve the catching situation. Not sure if we can actually get McCann, but there are a few good options that can all improve this team quite a bit, both defensively and offensively.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 When are the GM meetings? Since the trade last year was Nov 13 Usually first or second week of December if I'm not mistaken.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I heard the Jays were in on McCann at 3/45 with 2 club options for 15 each again, 1m buyout. He'd probably have to guarantee at least one of the options, but I would love this. Not sure I'd go a lot higher though.

Pete_7 Verified Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Usually first or second week of December if I'm not mistaken. That's the winter meetings. GM meetings are next week starting on Monday apparently.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 That's the winter meetings. GM meetings are next week starting on Monday apparently. Whoops, was thinking winter meetings.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I heard the Jays were in on McCann at 3/45 with 2 club options for 15 each again, 1m buyout. Arencibia, Beeston and AA were seen in a room of a seedy motel ............. JPA could be our starting catcher again.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I heard the Jays were in on McCann at 3/45 with 2 club options for 15 each again, 1m buyout. Do you have sources? How do you know this?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Do you have sources? How do you know this? Underground umpire network?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Underground umpire network? You're thinking of different posters.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 You're thinking of different posters. Oops, yep, that's kgm isn't it...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Jeez I'm bad with names.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Jeez I'm bad with names. Yo por igual.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hanagin will be traded, could be a good buy low. 0 WAR last year in half a season, Steamer projects 2.7 WAR. 2,7 WAR is too optimistic, but yeah................................put him in the list "upgrade over JPA"
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Not sure if anyone else posted it, but some talk the Reds could move Hanigan. Would be a very interesting target. edited: Oops, missed a page. Definitely an interesting target.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 2,7 WAR is too optimistic, but yeah................................put him in the list "upgrade over JPA" Offensively, he's pretty much the anti-JPA.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hanagin will be traded, could be a good buy low. 0 WAR last year in half a season, Steamer projects 2.7 WAR. What'd your data say on his framing? Fast was high on him.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Yankees are going to blow their wad on Tanaka. Good. He isn't as good as Darvish anyway
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 From your results it looks as if Hanigan is at least average. and either Hanigan and Mesoraco are both average pitch framers or Hanigan is an above average framer and Mesoraco is below average. From your results it appears that the latter is more likely than the former.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 If McCann doesn't work out, Hanigan/Ruiz would be a pretty solid tandem... just saying.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Or so. Likely another week and half before any movement starts happening
GNick Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Hanagin will be traded, could be a good buy low. 0 WAR last year in half a season, Steamer projects 2.7 WAR. Hanigan, Phillips and Homer Bailey for Rasmus? Gives us #2 starter, a 2b and a catcher. Gose can play cf or sign a depth guy
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Hanigan, Phillips and Homer Bailey for Rasmus? Gives us #2 starter, a 2b and a catcher. Gose can play cf or sign a depth guy No offense, but I'm not sure even a video game would accept that one. We'd have to include a HELL of a lot more.

Gose can play cf or sign a depth guy If this happened I run down yonge street nekkid Bailey for Rasmus straight up would be an interesting idea. I'd do it. I think I would but it's a thinker.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Bailey for Rasmus straight up would be an interesting idea. I'd do it. 3 WAR pitcher Vs 4 WAR CF No way
ace3113 Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Bailey for Rasmus straight up would be an interesting idea. I'd do it. What about Rasmus + for Latos?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Rasmus has been below 1.2 WAR in two of the last three years. I think you're rolling the dice treating him as a 4-win true talent player. I actually feel more comfortable extending Bailey on a new deal. Rasmus is about to become a superstar, a CF superstar.......150 games of a CF superstar over 30 outings of a #2 without hesitation. The durability or longevity of a pitcher always will be a question mark. When in doubt between a position player and a pitcher you should always choose the position player.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Maybe. Or maybe he'll put up 1 WAR with a 30% K-rate in typical gump fashion. Nobody knows! Rasmus last 3 season 2,4 WAR (150 games)
