Davidi on Sportsnet:

“I guess I’m not really too surprised with the way everything went down last year and how I pitched whenever I was out there,” Johnson told sportsnet.ca. “It’s tough to be there for only one year and to have that bad of a year, it’s disappointing. Now I get thrown into free agency and get to experience it a little bit and see what it’s about. Excited, but still a little disappointed in how last year went.”

Johnson did not rule out a return to Toronto, but said it was too soon to predict what might happen.

“I don’t know,” he said. “My agent (Matt Sosnick) thinks about these things all the time, me, I told him I’m going to wait to see what the Blue Jays do and then we’ll start thinking about what the next step is. Now it’s time to talk about the next step and where we go from here, and we’ll see which teams call and everything like that.”

lol Newsflash! the Jays wont be making a QO to Rajai Davis and Darren Oliver

Lol can you imagine if they made a Q.O. to Oliver?

Kind of surprised by the reaction here. Given the team's current payroll situation, I wouldn't have even considered offering him anything close to 14M.

Even if you think (and rightly so) that he'll somewhat bounce back performance wise, JJ can take his ~90 inning show and f*** off.

He is prob looking long term.

Prob not.

You don't post a 6.2 ERA with depressed velocity and injury issues, and then tie yourself into a long term deal. Pillow contract, all the way.

The Johnson camp probably still thinks that they can get a big time deal with a bounce back season in 2014.

JJ feel hurt by not trusting their talent and decide not to sign with the Jays lol

f*** you JJ.

Tanaka and Ubaldo or bust x2

Lol. You're probably right but given everything that transpired last season there's comfort in the devil you know as opposed to whatever the hell else AA has in store.

No, He is going to go on a 1 year deal to try and build up his value. That and I don't see and club offering a injury prone pitcher a long term deal. Blue Jays made the right decision.

I think what we have sneaking in here is some subconscious need to illogically justify the value disaster that was the Marlins deal. If Johnson signs back with Toronto on a 1 year deal and then has a fantastic 2014, helping the team compete or whatever, then all of a sudden that deal "looks" better, even if it doesn't make sense.

As a side note, LMFAO at people wanting AA to sign Ubaldo f***ing Jimenez.

Out of curiosity, why don't you like the idea of Jimenez? He's posted an xFIP of 3.6-3.7 in 4 of the last 5 years (with similar SIERRA), and a WAR exceeding 3 in 5 of the last 6 years.

Combine that with the fact that he's not viewed by many as one of the more sexy targets plus has a QO hovering over him to drive down the price, and we could possibly have him at a pretty nice bargain.

Ugh. There isn't much that annoys me more than people who have strong opinions about things they don't understand.

As I posted , A QO to JJ would have brought us up to 148 Mil . I found it hard to believe they would do this . IN Fact I would have been very surprised if we overpaid JJ to the tune of 6 mil or so . Did not make any fiscal sense especially if you only have 150 mil or less and have to fil 4 or 5 holes .

So... We currently have 3 capable major league starters. 1 of whom is a MAJOR injury concern. Wonderful

Yup. In my own mind at this point, and until he shows otherwise, Morrow is good for about 75 innings a year of xFIP 4.50 ball.

Apart from Dickey and Muehrle we're facked. Weakest rotation in a whiiiiile for this club. No hope here for '14.

Eight teams have contacted Hudson, tweets David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Giants, Red Sox, A's and Rangers have all reached out in addition to the Braves, Indians and Royals

I just don't like what I think the price vs. Projected production ratio will end up being. Granted, there's a slim chance that he ends up being s bargain in free agency if that attached pick sandbags his value enough. I don't think it'll happen in this market though.

Oh my god. I don't even... how is such a thing even possible?

A guy I know genuinely thinks Rajai Davis could hit 30 home runs in a full season.

I give up.

Great news that they didn't QO Johnson. Gives me some renewed hope that AA can think rationally and not hang onto his mistakes hoping they can rebound. Should be interesting to see what kind of money Johnson attracts in the real world versus the guessing here.

True. That's the glass half full.

The half empty glass says we got negative WAR and then gave gave away half the players we got from Miami for nothing. (Boni and Johnson)

One of my teachers once said that he thinks Escobar has 30 HR power potential

Another teacher was going on a huge rant when Sandoval hit 3 home runs in a world series game that this was "amazing" because Sandoval isn't a great player he's a journeyman nobody who came out of no where.

Doesn't top the "Emilio Bonifacio will be one of the best 2B in the league" guy I met at a game earlier this year

Hudson, one of the guys I would target. Not surprised AA isn't in on him.

"Bonifacio recently confessed the Marlins didn’t want to go crazy with it because after all they were a last-place team."

"But despite their mediocre ways the Marlins have proceeded like a rock band still trying to sell its first record, celebrating game-winning hits – anybody catch Hanley’s act? – stolen bases and defensive plays as if it where the last out of the World Series."

"it comes off as considerably lame from the Marlins to be partying it up like its October, especially from a team treading .500 at this point and still looking up in the National League East."

Hmmmmm............
