I wouldnt call the Rays figure after 2007 to be a failure. They have a policy on not promoting till they're ripe. Wish we did the same sometimes.

It would be nice to develop some homegrown talent from the post 2009 drafts. AA has been spending a lot of money on scouts & acquiring draft picks. Some of the picks have been used in the trades last year, so that's a start.

AA gave away Yan Gomes to Cleveland as a throw in for Esmail Rodgers. Gomes has outperformed in JPA in 2013 as a backup catcher. Very sad for the Jays.

Since AA,s draft class has not yet advanced to the majors this mostly includes JPR ,s drafts . This isn't really surprising to me

A lot of it will relate to development. We still don't turn raw draftees into major leaguers.

I agree ! I have been beating this horse for a couple of years . I point to the 07 draft class . BA and BP and others rated this draft by the Jays as very very good yet look at where they are . I look at what the Cards do and what we do and while we obviously don't draft as well our development is absolutely horrendous but AA has too much loyalty to his cronies .

What happened to hitters having a 2 strike approach. Cards seem to teach this . Jays seem to teach their guys to look one pitch and let er rip.

Rogers will have to consider spending more money on free agents or getting higher paid players through trades to offset the weakness in developing players.

We seem to lack some development philosophy beyond letting them do their thing and promote them regularly. JP was not ready to catch when he first came up. Nobody can bunt.
